More on WWE NXT Viewership for October 5th

The October 5th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a small decrease in both overall viewership and key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 632,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 34th place.

Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s decline this week was due to stiff sports competition and the large drop in their Teenagers viewership, which was down 25% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB Playoffs Wild Card game of New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox drew 7,690,000 viewers on ESPN.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 164,000 viewers. All four of NXT’s key demographic groups were down or the same with the biggest being their Males 35-49 group at 17.5% lower than last week’s show.

In an interesting note, Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that this week’s show had a median viewership age of 62 years old. As a result, Meltzer reported that this week’s NXT show was the oldest skewed show out of all of WWE’s television shows so far this year.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 1.1% in overall viewership and down 22.6% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for October 6th

The October 6th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a sizeable decrease in overall viewership and a large decrease in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 1,053,000 viewers and a 0.37 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for this week’s show was 4th place.

Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s decline this week was due to stiff sports competition and the much lower than usual Males 35-49 viewership, which was down 26.5% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB Playoffs Wild Card game of St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers drew 6,673,000 viewers on TBS, Inside The MLB post-show drew 1,248,000 viewers on TBS, The Challenge drew 546,000 viewers on MTV, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,264,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 489,000 viewers. AEW’s sole increase was with their Females 18-34 group at 15.1% higher than last week’s show. AEW’s biggest decrease was with their Males 35-49 group at 26.5% lower than last week’s show.

In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that AEW’s show this week managed to top this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Males 18-34 at around 105,000 viewers for AEW compared to around 96,000 viewers for RAW. Meltzer reported that while AEW had managed to beat RAW in recent weeks in Males 35-49, this week’s RAW had around 334,000 viewers compared to 238,000 for AEW.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 39.8% in overall viewership and up 21.9% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for October 1st

The October 1st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decrease in overall viewership and key demographic viewership.

AEW Rampage drew 622,000 viewers and a 0.25 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for this week’s show was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s Rampage show that week drew its lowest viewership to date. Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW Rampage’s decline that week was due to its lower than usual younger key demographic viewership, which was down 19.1% compared to the prior week. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s show that week was the first time in Rampage history where the main event quarter outdrew the first two quarters in terms of overall viewership for a Rampage show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the College Football game of Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Maryland Terrapins drew 1,381,000 viewers on FS1 and Gold Rush drew 1,494,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 330,000 viewers. AEW’s sole increase was with their Females 35-49 group at 10% higher than the prior week’s show. AEW’s biggest decrease was with their Females 18-34 group at 21.7% lower than the prior week’s show.

AEW Rampage started off with around 633,000 viewers and had around 594,000 viewers for its second quarter, around 609,000 viewers for its third quarter, and around 651,000 viewers for its main event quarter featuring the Hair vs. Hair match of Jack Evans vs. Orange Cassidy.
