It was confirmed yesterday that Kevin Owens has signed a new deal with WWE.
The deal is three years in length and in the range of $2-$3 million per year, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. It’s believed that it was signed at least a couple of weeks ago.
Three years would mean that Owens’ new deal will be up on January 31, 2025. During an interview with TVA Sports that was released today, Owens confirmed the month and day of the expiration of his new contract.
“I will just say that it still ends on January 31, but not 2022,” he said. “I will be there for several more years. The decision was rather easy because it was really the best thing for my family. When it comes to that, it’s always a pretty easy decision. WWE has been my home for seven years, so I have a sense of belonging. Basically, I spent most of my career there. When you look at all the wrestling companies I’ve wrestled in, in WWE, that’s where I’ve been the longest, that’s where I have to be for the next few years. That’s how I felt and that’s the decision I made.”
Some people in AEW hoped that Owens would jump ship, but were said to be happy for him, according to Fightful Select. The feeling among people in AEW who were spoken to was that the door would of course still be open in 2025.
