As noted before, Toni Storm requested and was granted her release from WWE on Wednesday.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources within WWE’s stated that the story going around WWE’s locker room was that Storm had flew herself home following this past Tuesday’s house show event in Washington, DC. Johnson reported that Storm’s decision to leave was not due to anything related to the Triple Threat match she worked at Tuesday’s house show event since it went down as planned according to his sources.
In regards to the backstage reactions over her departure, Fightful Select reported that many within the company were “blindsided” when they learned of the news of her release. One source spoken to stated that it would have been difficult for WWE to justify not granting someone their release after engaging in several rounds of “budget cuts” releases this year.
