Dave Meltzer reported on the F4W Board that his sources stated that Cody Rhodes is still expected to sign a deal with WWE. Those same sources stated that nothing had changed between the two sides as of two days ago.
Ringside News reported that one source spoken to within WWE’s creative team confirmed that Rhodes is still expected to be joining the company. This same source also stated that WWE officials currently have Rhodes scheduled to make an appearance at their upcoming WrestleMania 38 event. This source stated “I know what’s scheduled for Cody for Mania, and that it’s still on the list. If it’s changed, no one has told us yet or corrected the internal documents. Cody, as of an hour ago, still on internal documents for WrestleMania.”
As noted before, Cody Rhodes departed from AEW this past February and was rumored to be potentially returning to WWE.
Bodyslam.net’s Cassidy Haynes reported that his sources confirmed that Brandi and Cody Rhodes’ departures from AEW was “very much real life, and was not a work.” These same sources also stated that Rhodes’ talks with WWE regarding his potential return to the company recently “fizzled out.”
One source spoken to stated that there is some hope within AEW that Rhodes’ can be brought back into the company. This same source stated that Tony Khan’s recent purchase of Ring of Honor could open the possibility of the idea of Rhodes’ returning in a new backstage role involving the ROH acquisition.
