AEW Announced First Ever $1 Million Gate for an AEW Event

AEW CEO Tony Khan announced on Twitter that the company recently achieved the $1 million milestone for tickets sales for an AEW event for the first time in company history.

Khan stated that the company’s upcoming Double or Nothing 2022 event on May 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada managed to break the record for largest grossing show in company history.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s Update that AEW’s Double or Nothing 2022 event would currently be the second largest grossing non-WWE event in wrestling history in the United States. Meltzer reported that only New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor’s co-produced G1 Supercard event from 2019 managed to generate a higher grossing gate of $1.1 million. In terms of non-WWE wrestling history, Meltzer reported that WCW’s peak gross gate for an event in the U.S was around $930,000 for their January 4, 1999 WCW Nitro event at the Georgia Dome.
