As noted before, WWE recently changed the ring names for several of their talent on the main roster and NXT brand. These changes were due to a recent internal memo issued by Vince McMahon requiring talent who previously worked under their real names or indie names to be renamed in order for the company to own the trademarks to their ring names.
Prior to Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, TVA Sports’ Kevin Raphael reported that his sources stated that Tommaso Ciampa is the latest WWE talent to be given the ring name change treatment by the company. Raphael reported that WWE officials removed Ciampa’s first name and he will be known as just “Ciampa” going forward in the company.
During Monday’s RAW show, Ciampa was only mentioned by his last name by RAW’s commentary team during his sneak attack to Mustafa Ali following Ali’s match against The Miz.
