WWE: Randy Orton on Career Future, Former WWE VP on WWE’s Rapid Camera Cuts, Royal Rumble 2023

Randy Orton Comments on Potential Coaching Career After His Active Wrestling Career is Over

Sports website GiveMeSport.com held a recent interview with Randy Orton. One of the topics discussed included Orton’s thoughts on if he would be interested in a coaching career in wrestling after his in-ring career is over.

“I don’t really think I’d be a good coach because I would start to just ramble… It’s almost like I don’t know how to articulate myself to a group of green guys that are coming into the business that need to learn the basics.

If there was three, four or five guys, a small group, and if we could go and talk and sit in the ring. If it could be like close quarters, just a small group of people where we’re not doing drills and stuff, but just talking and maybe watching tape, I think I’d be good in that aspect.”

Former WWE VP of Global Television Production on Origin of WWE’s Rapid Cam Cuts Style

Conrad Thompson held a recent interview with former WWE Vice President of Global Television Production Mike Mansury. One of the topics discussed included Mansury revealing that WWE Executive Vice President, Television Production Kevin Dunn was not the person responsible for coming up with the idea for WWE shows to feature rapid camera cutting switching. Mansury also revealed that the origin for the idea came from The Shield’s debut in the company.

“I will choose to protect the nameless person, but I will say the rapid camera cutting, to my recollection, that came into play when The Shield debuted. The whole purpose behind it, was to make what you see on-screen with the three characters of The Shield and the push, was to make it seem all that more chaotic. At the time, it worked. I can see now, after so many years of doing it, a lot of viewers feel like they’re on a queasy thrill ride, but that was the intent of it initially. A lot of it is done to protect the magic. You don’t want to expose the business. A big part of the business is how it’s done on TV. If you’re exposing the magic, you’re killing the fun for everybody. That’s the approach and the rapid camera cut situation, it was born out of creating an exciting and chaotic feel for when The Shield were doing the three-on-one beatdowns early in their run. It’s hard to break some habits, but shoutout to the gentleman who shares my initials who created that concept.”
