Eddie Kingston vs. Jake Hager

Already in the squared circle are the two men who will be competing in our opening match of the evening. With that said, “The Dapper Yapper” Justin Roberts formally introduces both “The Mad King” Eddie Kingston and his opponent, from the Jericho Appreciation Society (J.A.S.), Jake Hager.

The bell sounds and we are off-and-running with our first of four matches advertised for tonight’s one-hour AEW on TNT television broadcast. We see Hager coming out strong, taking it to Kingston straight out of the gate.

Hager beats Kingston down in the ring as Excalibur, Taz and Chris Jericho talk about the decorated MMA background that the J.A.S. member has under his belt. The action spills out to the floor and Hager continues to deliver punishment to the fan-favorite.

We see things resume back inside the squared circle after a couple of spots on the floor, however moments later Hager ends up launching Kingston back to the ringside area on the floor.

Hager ends up diving out onto Kingston for a follow-up beat down on the floor, which consisted of a brutal back-to-back suplex that Hager executed, which launched “The Mad King” half-way across that particular part of the ringside area.

Back in the ring again, Hager continues to control ownership of the offensive driver’s seat. It isn’t much later, however, that Kingston finally starts to show signs of life.

He fights back into competitive form and starts to take over, but Hager cuts his offensive run short and starts putting it on him some more after grounding him on the mat and controlling the position.

As the action continues, we see Kingston fight back to a level playing field once again with Hager, only for Hager to once again cut his attempts at taking over short. He grounds Kingston again, who ultimately gets back up and walks into a loud chop from Hager that echoes throughout the Cable Dahmer Arena.

From there, Kingston immediately pulls his straps down on his singlet, squares up with Hager and starts firing back multiple chops in response to the initial shot from the MMA/pro wrestling cross-over athlete.

Hager continues to dominate and control the action for the next few minutes, with “The Mad King” many times trying and getting close to fighting into equal footing with the veteran performer.

Finally, we see Kingston fire up proper-style, taking it to the J.A.S. member and using the energy from the loud enthusiastic crowd rallying behind him. He goes berzerk-mode on Hager and takes it to him, backing him into the corner of the ring and yelling out, “Volvo!” before going for a big spot.

Hager ends up avoiding said-spot and taking over again. He gets Kingston down near the corner, leaps up to the middle ropes and launches himself backwards, connecting with a Vader-Bomb.

Things don’t end there, however, and Kingston once again shows signs of competitive life left in his proverbial gas tank. He gets Hager up and connects on a suplex of his own that shifts the momentum in this match in his favor.

This doesn’t last that long either, as Hager takes back over and secures an Ankle Lock on Kingston that looked to be a potential match-ending submission. Instead, Kingston frees himself and takes over. He connects with a powerbomb on Hager off the top-rope.

A big spinning-back-fist from Kingston, followed by another, and “The Mad King” is picking up a three-count and leaving the Cable Dahmer Arena as a winner. Strong opening match here on this week’s show.

Winner: Eddie Kingston

Backstage: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Jamie Hayter, Rebel

Once the match wraps up, we hear Excalibur and Taz send things over to Tony Schiavone, who is standing by with Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and her pals Jamie Hayter and Rebel.

Baker goes on to bring up being disgusted at seeing a certain someone get their greasy fingers on the AEW Women’s Championship that she once called her own.

Schiavone asks Baker if she is alluding to Toni Storm. Baker, in mocking-tone, responds that she of course is talking about her. She goes on to deliver a stern warning to Storm before making it clear that she has her sights set on the AEW Women’s Championship again.

She claims to feel a vibe that the title, currently held by Thunder Rosa, is wanting to be around her waist as well.

Video Promo: Ortiz

Ortiz cuts a promo on Jericho ahead of their Hair vs. Hair match on Dynamite. He says he’s going to take Jericho’s hair and attack Jericho where it hurts: his vanity.

Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal vs. Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett

We return from the break and now it’s time to get back down to the squared circle for our second match of the evening. This one will be contested in AEW’s tag-team division.

Making their way down to the ring led by Sonjay Dutt, is the first team competing in this two-on-two showdown — Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh. This match marks the AEW in-ring debut for the giant Singh.

We see the unknown team of Mat Fitchett and Davey Vega already in the ring awaiting the arrival of their opponents. In comes the trio, with Dutt bringing a ton of energy to the ring entrance.

The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. We see Jay Lethal starting things off for his team, however within seconds he tags in the big man.

Satnam Singh steps between the ropes in AEW for the first time to compete in an actual match since arriving on the scene as Jay Lethal’s monster several weeks ago.

Singh does a good job Donkey Kong’ing both Fitchett and Vega all over the place and then Lethal is tagged by in. Lethal hits his Lethal Injection finishing move on both opponents soon after re-entering the ring, and follows that up with an easy pin fall victory.

Winners: Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh

Singh attacks both opponents after the match, hitting one of them with a spinning Razor’s Edge.

Segment: Hook & Danhausen

We shoot outside after the second of four matches on tonight’s show wraps up, as Lexy Nair of the AEW broadcast team is standing by with Danhausen.

Danhausen rolls up in a golf cart and says he and Hook bought new cars, “Corvettes or PT Cruisers or something.”

Hook wheels in seconds later in an ATV. He doesn’t say anything, instead stopping briefly, lowering his sunglasses and staring at the AEW interview girl. She blushes back as he drives off to end the segment.

Kris Statlander vs. Red Velvet

We head back down to the ring for our third of four matches scheduled for this week’s one-hour AEW on TNT program. Out first, accompanied by TBS Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and her manager Stokely Hathaway, are The Baddies.

The group leads Red Velvet, the scheduled competitor in this one-on-one bout in the AEW women’s division, to the ring. She settles inside said-ring and her theme dies down.

Now the entrance music for her opponent, Kris Statlander, plays. She emerges and begins heading down to the ring as Excalibur and the other commentators sing her praises for reaching a new level with fans after her passionate from-the-heart promo going into her final match in the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

The same tournament that saw her go on to lose to Ruby Soho, who herself dropped her next match in the tourney to eventual winner Britt Baker.

With both competitors in the ring for this one, the bell sounds and we get it off-and-running. Early on we see some good back-and-forth action, which Statlander starts to gain the advantage in.

A few minutes into the contest, and things aren’t looking that way any longer. Red Velvet is coming on strong, and as she turns a corner and starts to dominate the action, we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We return from the break and it’s clear right away that Statlander is on the verge of an offensive comeback. She starts getting in the majority of the offense seen between these two, including a big lariat that turns Velvet inside-out and nearly ends the night for The Baddies section member.

After Velvet kicks out, we see Statlander again nearly take her out, only for the protege’ of TBS Women’s Champion Jade Cargill, to once again find a way to survive.

Regardless, Jade and co. aren’t pleased, which is made clear via their facial reactions when the camera pans over to them after Velvet just barely avoids being put away by Statlander moments ago.

We see Velvet start to take over from there. She hits a big spot off the ropes that nearly turns out Statlander’s lights. She follows that up with three consecutive shots from one of her signature moves.

After this we see her immediately go for the cover, however Statlander still manages to kick out before the count of three. She ends up connecting with her own signature “Friday Night Fever” move seconds later for the pin fall victory.

Winner: Kris Statlander

We see Jade Cargill and the rest of The Baddies immediately attack Kris Statlander from behind literally seconds after she scores the pin fall victory on one of their own in Red Velvet.

The TBS Women’s Champion goes on to lead a multiple person attack on one woman. This brings out Anna Jay, who tries her best to make the save on behalf of Statlander.

Athena is out next, but she’s held back by officials. Cargill and the Baddies talk trash to her from the ring.

Video Package: Miro

They air a video package for Miro ahead of his All-Atlantic Championship tournament match against Ethan Page on Dynamite.

Backstage: Ethan Page

We shoot backstage to Lexy Nair, who is standing by with one-half of The Men of the Year — “All Ego” Ethan Page.

The arrogant wrestling veteran goes on to deliver a message to Miro as he vowed to do on social media heading into tonight’s show, while TNT Champion Scorpio Sky and Dan Lambert stand by his side.

Ethan Page ultimately makes another vow — to win some gold in this company after he takes out Miro when the two meet in one-on-one action on next week’s show.

Trios Match
Trent Beretta & FTR vs. Will Ospreay & Aussie Open

The usual weekly pre-main event split-screen interview with the main event competitors gets started off with “The World’s Strongest Man” sending things over to the three-man team of NJPW stars Will Ospreay and Aussie Open — Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis.

After they talk about their big surprise arrival in All Elite Wrestling on this past Wednesday night’s Dynamite, they move on to focus on tonight’s AEW Trios showdown against the united trio of FTR and Trent Beretta.

Now the interview moves over to the other-half of tonight’s main event equation, as the trio of FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Trent Beretta state their case on why they are going to win tonight’s big featured bout.

On that note, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry has decided that “it’s been enough talking, it’s time to get down to the main event!” He finishes up his usual catchphrase and then sends the broadcast back to the commentary team, who get us ready for the big AEW Trios match.

We see the ring entrance of the three men who arrived in AEW this week from New Japan Pro Wrestling, as Will Ospreay and Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis) emerge and head to the ring.

Their music dies down and now the theme hits for their opponents, and we see the ring entrance of Trent Beretta and the ROH Tag-Team Champions FTR. Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler and Trent make their way to the ring where they settle inside.

It’s main event time here on this week’s edition of AEW Rampage. The bell sounds to get this one off-and-running. We see Will Ospreay apparently ready to start for his team.

After some early back-and-forth action, we see the heel trio pull into the offensive lead. When they gain a firm hand on the offensive control of the match, Excalibur talks us into a mid-match commercial break — our final ad time-out of the evening — as the action continues.

When we return from the break, we see fellow member of the United Empire group that Ospreay and Aussie Open come from, Aaron Henare, shown on-camera taking this one in from an up-close-and-personal point-of-view.

Meanwhile, the action is picking up in terms of intensity and the pace of things. The finish seems to be drawing close. After some back-and-forth attempts from both sides at finishing this one off, we Ospreay and Harwood going at it tooth-and-nail for a few moments.

Finally, things resolve and Trent scores the pin via a Strong Zero on Fletcher to pick up the main event victory for himself and teammates FTR. Great main event on what was a solid show top-to-bottom this week on AEW Rampage.
