More on WWE NXT Viewership for June 7th

The June 7th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a very large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small increase in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 657,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 22nd place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to the weaker sports competition that night and the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 27.3% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Playoffs Game 4 of New York Ranger vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 2,341,000 viewers on ESPN, Little People, Big World drew 1,353,000 viewers on TLC, Deadliest Catch drew 898,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Deadliest Catch: Bloodline drew 809,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 183,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 117,000 male key demographic viewers and 66,000 female key demographic viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 1.8% in overall viewership and down 29.6% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 8th

The June 8th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decline in key demographic ratings, a small decline in overall viewership, and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 939,000 viewers and a 0.34 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to stiff sports competition and the large decline from their younger male key demographic viewership, which was down 30.6% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gains from their over 50 viewership group, which was up 8.8% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that due to the large declines suffered from their overall male key demographic viewership, this week’s show had a male/female viewership split of 67.2% in favor of males.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA 2022 Playoffs Game 3 of Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics drew 11,522,000 viewers on ABC, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins drew 282,000 viewers on FS1, the NCAA 2022 Softball World Series game of Texas vs. Oklahoma drew 1,411,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,145,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 657,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 445,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 30.6%, Females 18-34 was down 1.6%, Males 35-49 was down 12.3%, and Females 35-49 was down 1.2% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, two out of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,128,000 viewers for their first quarter and their quarter low point was at 830,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 92.8% in overall viewership and up 79% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the huge increases was due to last year’s show took place on a Saturday due to the NBA 2021 Playoffs.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,128,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jox Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly match which gained 21,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the AEW All Atlantic Championship debut segment and the PAC vs. Buddy Matthews match which lost 130,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for June 3rd

The June 3rd episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership and a large increase in key demographic rankings. That week’s show was notable for Rampage airing at its normal time slot following the past month of airing at an earlier start time due to TNT’s NHL Playoffs commitments.

AEW Rampage drew 475,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 14th place.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Playoffs Game 2 of Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers drew 2,324,000 viewers on ESPN, the NCAA 2022 Softball World Series game of UCLA vs. Northwestern drew 710,000 viewers on ESPN2, the USFL game of Pittsburgh vs. New York drew 208,000 viewers on USA Network, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 689,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 183,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show was the second youngest skewing sports show for the week, only behind that week’s Dynamite show.
