As noted before, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is currently in a leave of absence from the company due to family-related reasons. McMahon’s abilities as a WWE executive had been rumored to be growing in doubt for some time within the company.
Business Insider reported that one high level WWE source spoken to stated that WWE was not seeing growth under McMahon’s charge of the company’s sponsorship department. This same source stated that McMahon had been recently removed from this area of the company.
“Family or not family, we’ve got to get the right people in place. We weren’t seeing that growth. When someone is moved out of a company, it’s usually the result of something not working. We took stronger control of that a few months ago.”
In regards to the portion of the report that stated that McMahon’s leave of absence was due to her father Vince McMahon firing her from her corporate position, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that is not true. These same sources stated that McMahon’s leave of absence was her own decision.
