Various: Konnan on AAA U.S. Expansion Plans, Ace Austin Joining Bullet Club Update, Indies

Konnan Comments on AAA’s Current United States Expansion Plans

Denise Salcedo held a recent interview with Lucha Libre AAA head booker Konnan. One of the topics discussed included Konnan’s revealing the company’s current expansion plans for the United States.

“I can guarantee you 100 percent, we have a couple of venues in the United States. It’s not for me to say it at this time. We’re working at major Hispanic hubs where AAA will be making an appearance. The other thing that I can say and I can’t say too much about this but we are in negotiations to come to the United States in a very, very big way on TV.

My whole thing is I just want to go out there and show the fans and everybody what lucha libre is all about, what they have been missing, what hasn’t been adequately used. I wanna make Latinos proud. I amped because maybe twenty years ago if I would have done this, I wasn’t ready. I am ready now. I know what Latinos want, I know what the American fans want, and now I’ll have the resources.

One of the things that hurts us a lot is we don’t have the resources to do a lot of the stuff, I’d like to do. We’re starting to get them which is why shows are tighter, but we got some cool sh*t coming and there’s a reason why we’re on FITE.tv. There’s a reason why we’re back on YouTube. Those are baby steps into coming into the United States.”

Ace Austin Joining NJPW’s Bullet Club Stable Update

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Best of the Super Juniors 2022 event earlier this month featured Impact Wrestling talent Ace Austin being revealed as the newest member of Bullet Club.

A recent episode of the Talk N Shop podcast had co-host Karl Anderson revealing that Impact Wrestling Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore was the person who came up with the idea and pushed for Austin to join Bullet Club.

“I was asked about it …

It’s whatever booker wants to put the son (of a) bitch in. People will say, ‘Why did you let this guy in?’ Guys, listen, you have to understand. The person that makes the show gets to put the fucking person in the damn Club. Scott D’Amore wanted Ace Austin in there. That’s not saying I didn’t want him in there, it’s a great shot for him. You can hate on the Bullet Club all you want, of course, anything that is done successfully is going to get hated on. You can’t deny that it’s going to help your career.”
