AEW officials reportedly currently still have plans for the main event for their All Out 2022 event on September 4th in Hoffman Estates, Chicago to be an AEW World Championship match, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that despite AEW has yet to officially announce the match, his sources stated that the current plans are still for a rematch between CM Punk and champion Jon Moxley to take place as the main event match for All Out 2022.
In regards to the AEW World Championship Unification match from this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show, Meltzer reported that Moxley’s squash win over Punk was not the original plans for the match nor was it meant to just be a cheap ratings ploy. Moxley reportedly was not fond of the idea of an Interim champion being done for the AEW World title and was responsible for the idea for a quick match and clean finish to be done.
