More on This Past Wednesday’s AEW Talent Meeting in Cleveland

As noted before, AEW held a mandatory talent meeting with most of their talent prior to the start of this past Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Cleveland, Ohio.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that AEW VP Pat Buck was among those who spoke at the meeting. Pat reportedly informed talent that they need to respect AEW’s coaches and should go to them first instead of to Tony Khan for everything. Buck reportedly also gave advice on how talents can properly pitch their ideas going forward and similar things of that nature.

Tony Schiavone reportedly also spoke at this meeting and talked about his past experience and time in WCW to give a fuller idea of why he was recently put in a management position to help everyone. Those spoken to stated that Schiavone came off extremely well like from his speech and was compared as an “Uncle who wanted all the kids in his family to succeed.”

Others who reportedly spoke at this meeting included Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega. In regards to Jericho, it was reported his speech was more a “rally the troops” type and gave his personal feelings on getting AEW this far. In regards to the Young Bucks, Matt Jackson reportedly stated that they are available and easy to find to anyone who wants helps or needs anything. In regards to Omega, it was reported that his speech was the harshest towards AEW’s locker room that was described by some as being “tough love” and by others as being really “heavy-handed” over him trying to lit a fire under the roster.

Johnson reported that the meeting ended with AEW Chief Legal Officer Megha Parekh discussing some “legal” related stuff.

In regards to AEW’s email warning WWE to stop contacting their contracted talent, Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Live that his sources stated that WWE had contacted “multiple” talents trying to get information regarding their contract status and potential interest in joining their company in the future. Jericho recently hinted on Twitter that he was one of the talents who had been recently contacted by WWE for a potential future return to the company.
