As noted before, Warner Bros Discovery is believed to have recently asked AEW to tone down on the usage of explicit language for their weekly shows on TNT and TBS.
Fightful Select reported that their sources within Warner Bros Discovery stated that they feel AEW’s current programming has made “no negative waves” and WBD officials are currently pleased with the ratings of AEW’s shows, which they feel that AEW has held up their end of the deal. WBD officials reportedly have also been pleased with AEW’s handling of their cross-promotion with other WBD owned brands, specifically “House of Dragon” and “Shark Week.”
Those spoken to reportedly stated that WBD’s relationship with AEW remains very positive and the rumors about WBD officials planning to cut back Dynamite into a one-hour show are false.
It was also reported that their sources within AEW stated that the recent report about WBD officials wanting AEW to tone down their language for shows was taken out of context. Those spoken to stated that the source of this was from the recent talent meeting held before this past Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Cleveland. AEW officials reportedly stressed to their talent at the meeting that they could get heat from either TBS or TNT if they “flew too close to the sun” in regards to the usage of harsh language in their promos. Those spoken to stated that WBD officials have not issued an official edict about not wanting explicit language to be used on AEW programming on their networks.
