WWE: The Rock on Talks with Nick Khan for Executive Role, Karl Anderson NJPW Update, More News

The Rock Comments on Talks with WWE Co-CEO Nick Khan for Potential Future WWE Executive Job

BNN Bloomberg held a recent interview with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. One of the topics discussed included Johnson revealing that he recently held talks with WWE co-CEO Nick Khan over the potential of him working in an Executive-level position for the company in the future.

“Nick [Khan] and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana [Johnson’s tequila brand]. I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather [and] my dad started here in Canada, where [his father] was born. So, I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure.”

Johnson also gave his thoughts about the on-going rumors of a potential sale of WWE in the future.

“I’ve known Vince for a very, very long time and he’s a businessman. I think the key if there were a sale of the WWE is to make sure that whoever acquires that brand in that property, you’ve got to love the wrestling business. Of course, you can love the asset, and you can love everything that comes with it, but you got to love the professional wrestling business … because if not, then you could kind of see the writing on the wall; four or five years down the road, what will happen?”

Karl Anderson NJPW Status Update

As noted before, The Good Brothers’ Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson made their surprise returns to WWE earlier this month. Following their return, the Good Brothers’ future in New Japan Pro Wrestling was rumored to be in doubt despite the Good Brothers’ past claims of having an agreement with the company until next year’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event and Anderson being the current NEVER Openweight Champion.

This past Monday’s RAW show featured the official announcement of a Six-Man Tag Team match between The O.C. and Judgement Day for WWE’s Crown Jewel 2022 event on November 5th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the same date as NJPW’s Battle Autumn 2022 event in Oska, Japan that is currently advertising Anderson defending his NEVER Openweight Championship against Hikuleo.

Anderson recently stated on Twitter that due to his double booking on November 5th, he will no longer be able to work for NJPW’s event that day. Anderson also stated that he blames NJPW for booking him for their event without properly informing him beforehand.
