AJ Styles reportedly suffered a potential injury at WWE’s house show event on Thursday in Hershey, Pennsylvania, according to the Wrestling Observer.
The Wrestling Observer’s Josh Nason reported that Styles injury took place during his Six-Person Mixed Tag match with The O.C. against Judgement Day. Nason reported that fan videos and reports from those in attendance at event stated that Styles suffered the injury following a spot where he performed a top rope dive to the outside and landed awkwardly. Styles reportedly was seen grabbing grabbed at his left leg and ankle afterwards and required medical assistance, resulting in the match being stopped early and Styles being helped to the backstage for medical treatment.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Styles injury was legitimate and not as part of some sort of storyline angle for the live crowd. WWE officials reportedly currently believe that Styles likely suffered an ankle injury but the severity nor how long he would be out of action is currently not known.
