WWE Reportedly Filmed Content with John Cena & Austin Theory This Past December

The December 30th SmackDown show in Tampa, Florida featured the in-ring return of John Cena. Cena teamed up with Kevin Owens in a tag team match against The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns & Sami, which was won by Cena & Owens.

Besides his in-ring match, Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE had filmed content involving Cena and Austin Theory backstage that has yet to be aired. It was reported that it is currently not known if this content is for a future segment on WWE programming, for a commercial, or for something else instead.

It was also reported that this was the reason why Theory was pulled from his scheduled match at a house show event that night in Toronto, Canada in order for him to travel instead to WWE’s SmackDown show to film content with Cena.


More on WWE’s Talent Meeting This Past Friday

As noted before, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque held a meeting with talent this past Friday in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This meeting revolved around Levesque providing an update on Vince McMahon’s recent return to the company and current status of WWE’s creative team and process.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Levesque shot down recent rumors and reports of a sale of the company to the Saudis being a done deal. Levesque reportedly stated that even if a sale did happen, it would take much longer than has been reported to actually finalize.

In regards to WWE’s creative, Levesque reportedly told talent that none of the recent changes in upper management will cause any change to his current creative plans nor the makeup of WWE’s current creative team. Levesque reportedly stated that while he currently holds final say over WWE’s creative, he does hold talks with McMahon over creative plans and McMahon currently has deferred the final decision to him for it.

It was reported that WWE Executive Producer & Head of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn also spoke at this meeting stating that McMahon has not informed him of any plans for changes to WWE’s product since his return.


WWE 2K23 Reportedly Planned to be Officially Revealed at Royal Rumble 2023

2K Games and WWE reportedly are currently planning to officially reveal the next game in their WWE 2K series, WWE 2K23, at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2023 event on January 28th, according to Insider Gaming.

It was reported that WWE’s upcoming Royal Rumble 2023 event will featured hands-on gameplay from WWE 2K23. This gameplay reportedly will feature “select” matches from this year’s Showcase mode and the first look at a new game mode.

It was also reported that more details regarding this upcoming game is currently planned to be released on February 1st. It was also reported that the game currently has a planned release date of late March.
