Various: Jerry Lawler Stroke Update, Matt Cardona Rejected “Zack Ryder” Trademark Update, Indies

Jerry Lawler Heath Status Update

Jerry “The King” Lawler has been hospitalized since this past Monday following a stroke incident at his home in Fort Myers, Florida.

Lawler’s official Twitter account posted a health update on Thursday stating that Lawler was released from his stay in Intensive Care Unit and will be allowed to return to his home for his post-stroke rehab and recovery.

Matt Cardona Comments on Reason for His Rejected Zack Ryder Trademark

As noted before, Matt Cardona’s trademark application for his former WWE ring name of “Zack Ryder” was recently rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

A recent episode of the Pro Wrestling Boom podcast had Cardona as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Cardona revealing that WWE was the reason why his trademark for “Zack Ryder” was rejected.

Cardona stated that WWE’s ownership of the trademark had lapsed which is why he filed a trademark for it but they fought against his filing and he backed down to avoid a costly legal battle for it.

“[WWE did let the ‘Zack Ryder’ trademark] lapse. I applied for it knowing there was a chance they could fight it, and they have, so that’s it. I’m letting it go.

It would have been cool to do a cinematic ‘Matt Cardona vs. Zack Ryder’ match. It’s not going to happen. I’m not going to fight because, at the end of the day, it’s their intellectual property. They would win if we ever went to court over it. I tried. They fought it, so that’s it. I’m backing down.”
