Cody Rhodes on Idea for Special Weight Belt Gear for WrestleMania 39

HOT 97 radio held a recent interview with Cody Rhodes. One of the topics discussed included Rhodes revealing that he currently has plans to wear a special weight belt for a future WWE pay-per-view event. Rhodes confirmed in a separate interview with My Mom’s Basemenet with Robbie Fox podcast that this special weight belt would be for WrestleMania 39.

“Small spoiler I guess, I was trying to come up with this idea for a weight belt for a very specific P.L.E. or pay-per-view, whatever you wanna call it where I wrote everybody independent promotion I worked at on it, because that was the most important thing I did was this connection with these fans and getting to know them and grassroots and that became really my bread and butter.”

John Cena Announced as Executive Producer for WWE 2K23

2K Games recently announced that John Cena is the Executive Producer for the official soundtrack for their upcoming WWE 2K23 video game.

It was also announced that this year’s soundtrack features songs from Metallica, Doja Cat, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bullet for My Valentine, Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, and Travis Scott.

This past Sunday’s NFL Super Bowl LVII game on FOX featured several WWE-related ads that aired during its broadcast. While the cost for a 30 second ad for this year’s game was around $6 to $7 million, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that WWE did not spend any money for their ads for SmackDown that aired during the game. Meltzer reported that this was done for free due to it being an in-house ad from FOX.

NFL Super Bowl LVII champion and MVP Patrick Mahomes wore a WWE Championship belt given by WWE as a gift for the Kansas City Chiefs post-game locker room title celebrations in Glendale, Arizona this past Sunday and their championship parade on Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Comcast recently announced that their NBC Peacock streaming service will no longer offer a free subscription tier to new subscribers for Comcast Xfinity customers starting on June 26th. It was announced that those who currently have a free account will be required to upgrade to a paid account or else lose access to the service on that date. Peacock is the current streaming home for the WWE Network in the United States.

Cody Rhodes recently announced on Twitter that he will be making an appearance at WWE’s upcoming house show event at Madison Square Garden on March 12th in New York City, New York. This will be Rhodes’ first appearance at MSG since his return to WWE this past April.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that a lawsuit filed in June of 2021 by Jackson Parsons is currently scheduled to begin jury trial on February 27th before the Florida Middle District Court, based on recent court records. This lawsuit revolves around a car accident involving a WWE employee as the driver of a van who collide with Parsons resulting in Parsons suffering an ankle injury that required surgery. Parsons reportedly is currently asking to be awarded over $1 million in economic damages and medical costs from WWE.

WWE recently released a video featuring Judgement Day’s Dominik Mysterio taking Rhea Ripley out for a Valentine’s Day dinner at a restaurant despite his reservation already being taken by his parents. After seeing his son and Ripley, Rey Mysterio gave up his table in order to avoid another holiday confrontation with the duo. Following the end of their dinner, Dominik tried to pay for his and Ripley’s meal only to be told that his credit card under Rey’s account had been removed and his card declined. Dominik then ditched Ripley after seeing cops arriving leaving her to foot the bill.

During this past Tuesday’s NXT show, WWE announced that the next NXT television special will be called NXT Roadblock, takes place on March 7th, and will air live on USA Network.
