Tonight’s AEW Dynamite show in Winnipeg, Canada featured a TBS Championship Open Challenge match between champion Jade Cargill and a mystery opponent.
This mystery opponent was revealed to be Canadian indies wrestler Nicole Matthews, who lost in a quick squash to Cargill.
Following the match, Cargill berated Renee Paquette in a post-match interview asking if that was all that Canada had to offer for a worthy opponent. Cargill’s promo was interrupted by Taya Valkyrie making her surprise official debut in AEW. This segment ended with a brawl between Valkyrie and Cargill & Leila Grey resulting in Valkyrie standing tall in the end.
Following the segment, AEW CEO Tony Khan announced on Twitter that Valkyrie recently signed an official contract with the company.

Later in the show, it was announced that Valkyrie will be making her official in-ring debut for AEW at this Friday’s Rampage show.
Prior to her debut, Valkyrie worked in Impact Wrestling from April of 2022 to this past February and in WWE from February to November of 2021.
