During tonight’s WWE SmackDown show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, WWE officially announced that Rey Mysterio is the first member for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class.

In an interesting note, Mysterio becomes the first WWE wrestler in WWE history to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame while still being an active wrestler in the company.
Mysterio’s promo on the show celebrating the special occasion was cut very short by his son Dominik Mysterio and the rest of Judgement Day. After some trash talk by Dominik, Legado Del Fantasma came out in support of Rey leading to a 6-Man Tag Team match between the two groups on the show.
This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony will be taking place on April 31st at the Cyrpto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California following that night’s SmackDown show in the same venue.
