WWE Reportedly Planning Name Change for Butch by End of 2023

WWE reportedly is currently working on plans for Butch to be given a name change by the end of this year, according to WrestleVotes.

It was reported that their sources stated that WWE Chief Content Officer and Head of Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque has been working on plans for Butch to be given back his former ring name of Pete Dunne. Levesque reportedly had planned for Butch to receive his former ring name last year but delayed those plans due to The Brawling Brutes rise in popularity with fans as a group for the SmackDown brand.

Pat McAfee WWE Status Update

As noted before, WWE SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee has been absent from WWE since this past September due to his commitments with ESPN and other issues. McAfee made a surprise appearance at this past January’s Royal Rumble 2023 but has not made any other appearance since then. SmackDown commentator Wade Barrett had recently revealed that he has become a permanent replacement for McAfee on SmackDown’s commentary team.

McAfee recently provided an update on Twitter stating that his dream of a career in WWE is not over and he is still hopeful of being able to return in the future.

A lot of wrestling chatter about me right now..

I think about wrestling everyday..that dream isn’t done.

My business is currently rather active and exigent…+ baby on the way…timing is everything.

I still have MASSIVE plans for my journey to the WWE HOF someday.

Believe that.
