AEW Double or Nothing 2023 Update – Four New Matches Added, Updated Card

Four New Matches Added to Double or Nothing 2023

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Austin, Texas featured four new matches officially announced for the card of AEW’s Double or Nothing 2023 event, which takes place on May 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The first new match announced was a TNT Championship Ladder match of Christian Cage vs. Wardlow (c). This match was made following a promo segment by Wardlow callingout Cage over the comments made against him last week. Cage came out alongside Luchasaurus and told Wardlow that his time as TNT Champion was almost over. Before Cage could spit at Wardlow, a brawl broke out between all three resulting in Luchasaurus and Cage slamming Wardlow onto a ladder several times. In a follow-up backstage interview segment, Wardlow issued a match challenge to Cage for his TNT Championship in a Ladder match at AEW’s Double or Nothing 2023 event.

The second new match announced was an AEW International Championship 21-Man Blackjack Battle Royal match of Orange Cassidy (c) vs. twenty mystery opponents. This match was made following a backstage interview segment where Cassidy informed Kyle Fletcher and others that if they wanted a shot at his AEW International title, all they had to do was go ask Tony Khan for the match. In a follow-up segment, Renee Paquette informed Cassidy that 20 people went to Khan’s office asking for a title match. Cassidy responded stating that was a lot of people so he offered to put his title on the line against everyone in a Blackjack Battle Royal match.

The third new match announced was an AEW Women’s World Championship match of Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter (c). This match was made following a backstage interview segment involving Storm commenting on her current win streak in AEW and issued a challenge to Hayter for her title at Double or Nothing 2023. Earlier in the show, Storm and Ruby Soho had defeated Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida in a tag team match resulting in Storm’s win streak staying intact.

The fourth and final new match announced was an Anarchy in the Arena match of Blackpool Combat Club vs. The Elite. This match was made following a promo segment involving Don Callis berating Kenny Omega and explaining the reasons for his attack on him last week. This led to Omega coming out but was quickly ambushed by the BCC. Jon Moxley threatened Omega that this was his final warning to stay down or else and the BCC being what the Elite pretend to be in regards to being the real elite group in wrestling. The Young Bucks came out bringing weapons to get payback for the BCC’s attack on them earlier in the show but waited for a forth man to join them to even the odds, which was revealed to be Hangman Adam Page’s surprise return to AEW. Following a brawl between both groups, Page gave a heated promo saying that they are the heart and soul of the wrestling business and challenged the BCC to an Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing 2023.
