AEW: Jamie Hayter on Fan Support for Face Turn, Ricky Steamboat on Turning Down AEW Job, All Access Ratings

Jamie Hayter Comments on Being Shocked Over Huge Support by Fans For Her Face Turn in AEW

A recent Q&A panel at this year’s Monopoly Events convention in Manchester, England featured Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker as the guests. One of the topics discussed included Hayter and Baker’s thoughts on being interested in having a potential match with Mercedes Mone at AEW’s upcoming All In event at Wembley Stadium.

Jamie Hayter – “Of course (we’d like to face Mercedes Moné at All In).”

Britt Baker – “She’s showing up? Do you know something we don’t know?”

Hayter – “Tell me all the details.”

Baker – “Of course. I think we pretty much welcome any and all opponents always so…”

Hayter – “Yeah, definitely.”

Baker – “Except Ruby (Soho).”

Hayter also gave her thoughts about her transition from being a heel to a babyface wrestler following her AEW Women’s Championship win at Full Gear 2022 and her reaction over the support from fans getting behind her as a big face star.

“Yeah, it was very shocking to me in a way (the crowd turning her into a babyface). But, you know, the fans just for some reason, I don’t know why, they all got behind me and that meant so much to me and when we got backstage, it was just a really hard-fought match (between myself & Toni Storm at AEW Full Gear). I think we really went out there and kicked each other’s asses, and I broke Toni’s face, sorry Toni. Actually, not sorry. I’m not sorry about that now. I’m never sorry. So yeah, the reaction was really good and it made me feel like I’m doing something right. I’m doing myself good by just going out there and doing my best and yeah, just kind of going with the flow really. There wasn’t anything in particular that got me to that point I don’t think. It was just the kind of a culmination of multiple things, so it was a really special moment for me and yeah, I’ll cherish that for a very long time.”

Hayter and Baker also gave their thoughts about either of them being the one to end Jade Cargill’s undefeated streak and become TBS Champion.

Baker – “I guess we kind of would look great with two belts, right?”

Hayter – “We would look amazing.”

Baker – “Right? If we each had a belt.”

Hayter – “We’d look so dripped out.”

Baker – “I don’t know. That’s something to think about though for sure (becoming TBS Champion).”

Ricky Steamboat Comments on Turning Down AEW Job Offer Over Traveling-Related Reasons

A recent virtual fan signing event for Captain’s Corner featured WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Steamboat revealing that he had turned down a backstage job offer from AEW due to him no longer wanting to be traveling on road anymore for wrestling.

“Believe it or not, I was already asked to come aboard in a capacity of [a road agent]. Not anymore [when asked if he’s no longer interested in that kind of role]. No reflection on them, great company and everything, and don’t get me wrong, the pay would have been great. But I’m at a point in time in my life where I’m trying to get off the road. [I’ve had] 40-something years of being on the road.”
