NJPW Announces Full Field of Participants for 32-Man G1 Climax 2023 Tournament

Sunday’s Dominion 2023 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling featured the official announcement of the full field of competitors for this year’s G1 Climax tournament.

This year’s tournament will take place from July 15th to August 13th in Japan and the winner to earn a title shot for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at next year’s Wrestle Kingdom 18 event.

NJPW also announced that this year’s tournament will feature the largest field ever in G1 Climax history at 32 competitors. While the official group blocks were not announced, this year’s tournament is currently assumed to feature four group blocks. This would be the second year in a row that a G1 Climax tournament will feature a four block setup.

This year’s tournament was also revealed to be featuring several competitors from AEW and Pro Wrestling NOAH among the 32-man field. Eddie Kingston from AEW and Kiyomiya Kaito from NOAH were revealed to be competing in this year’s tournament.
