As noted before, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks contracts with AEW are currently set to expire by the end of this year. Besides Omega and the Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page’s current contract also is set to expire by the end of this year and also has been in talks for a potential new contract.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that none of the Elite have yet to be signed to new contracts. Those spoken to within AEW reportedly stated that they are confident that the company will retain the Elite despite CM Punk’s upcoming return. It was reported that there has been no new updates recently from their sources regarding the Elite’s willingness to work with Punk again in AEW. AEW officials reportedly have had creative plans for quite some time for several of them working with Punk should the situation change.
In regards to Omega’s current contract situation, it was reported that AEW officials did add injury time to Omega’s contract to make up for the time missed due to his injuries. It was also reported that the exact timeframe for the expiration of each of the Elite’s contracts is currently not known due to a variety of factors such as injury time, option years, and other variables with all four talents.
It was also reported that those spoken to within WWE stated that the company would absolutely have interest in all four talent should they become available as free agents on the market. Those same sources spoken to reportedly also stated that they do not actually expect this to happen and WWE are “nowhere near being legally allowed to talk to any of them.” In regards to the rumors that the Young Bucks had reached out to WWE last year, it was reported that those close to the Young Bucks had denied those rumors being true.
It was reported that most within AEW currently expect that each member of the Elite will remain in the company on new contracts containing significant monetary increases.
