Impact Announces Upcoming #1 Contender’s Tournament for Tag Team Titles

Impact Wrestling announced that they will be holding a new tournament to determine the official contender for the Impact World Tag Team Championship at their Emergence 2023 event later this month in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

It was also announced that The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz), “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Jonathan Gresham, ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin), and Sami Callihan & Rich Swann will be competing in this upcoming tournament.

It was also announced that this tournament will start at this Thursday’s episode of Impact!.


Ian Riccaboni Elected to Local School Board

Ring of Honor and AEW commentator Ian Riccaboni announced on Twitter that he was recently elected as a member of his local school board of the Salisbury Township School District.

Riccaboni stated that he was sworn in as its newest member this past Monday following a vote involving him and several other candidates for the vacant spot on the board. Riccaboni also stated that this is for the remainder of the current term that expires this December but will explore his options for a potential full term afterwards.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

As noted before, former wrestler Tammy Sytch was arrested this past May in Florida following a police investigation into a fatal car accident involving Sytch in March of 2022. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Sytch’s trial is currently scheduled to take place on August 21st and be for around one week on length based on recent court records. Johnson reported that Sytch’s trial had been originally scheduled to start on the week of September 18th prior to the recent date change.

Pro Wrestling Revolver recently announced that they have pulled Jon Moxley from their Heat Em Up event on August 3rd in Dayton, Ohio due to “circumstances beyond our control.” In a video message, Moxley stated that he hand picked Konosuke Takeshita to be his official replacement for his scheduled appearance at the event.

Impact Wrestling talent Deonna Purrazzo announced on Twitter that she recently graduated from college.

Deonna Purrazzo also recently issued a challenge to anyone from New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom for a match at Impact’s upcoming co-promoted Impact x NJPW Multiverse United 2 event on August 20th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
