WWE NXT Heatwave 2023 Notes: Noam Dar Wins NXT Heritage Cup, Creed Bros Return, Two New Matches Setup for NXT No Mercy

Noam Dar Regains NXT Heritage Cup

Tuesday’s WWE NXT Heatwave 2023 show featured a NXT Heritage Cup Championship match between Noam Dar and champion Nathan Frazer.

Heading into the final sixth round of the match, Dar and Frazer were tied at one point each following Dar scoring the first point in Round Two and Frazer equalizing it in Round Four.

The finish to this match involved Dar attempting a double foot stomp only for Frazer to dodge out of the way and hit Dar with a crescent kick in return. Frazer then tried to hit a reverse DDT only for Dar to counter it with a roll through and applied a knee bar hold. Frazer managed to break out of the hold after rolling over and several punches to Dar’s head. Frazer then hit a superkick to lay out Dar and then setup a Phoenix Splash only to first have to kick Menash off the apron, who had tried to interfere, and then missed hitting the move. This left him open for Dar to hit the Nova Roller for the pinfall victory to become the new NXT Heritage Cup Champion.

Creed Bros Make Surprise Return to NXT, Challenge Dyad for Cage Match

Tuesday’s NXT Heatwave 2023 show also featured the Creed Brothers making their surprise return to NXT.

Ava also praised two of the masked Schism members for protecting her earlier over Nile’s attempt to attack her after their match.

Later in the show, Nile showed up to confront Ava but before she could, Ava ordered her two mystery followers to attack Nile which they refused to do. The two mystery masked people then unmasked to reveal themselves to be Brutus and Julius Creed, This left Ava open to an attack by Nile and them kidnapping Ava. Before the Creed Bros left, they issued a challenge to The Dyad for a match next week with the stipulation of if they win, then they are officially back in NXT and added an extra stip of this being a Steel Cage match.

Later in the show, Joe Gacy and The Dyad responded in a backstage promo berating Diamond Mine for their actions and demanded them to release Ava. The Dyad accepted the Creed Bros challenge and stated that they would be ending things between them next week.

Dar had Mensah read the contents of the letter which stated that NXT will be holding an eight-man tournament called the NXT Global Heritage Invitational with the winner to officially challenge for the Heritage Cup at NXT No Mercy this September. #1 Contender Fatal Four-Way Match Announced for NXT Women’s Title for NXT No Mercy

Tuesday’s NXT Heatwave 2023 show also featured the official announcement of a #1 Contender Fatal Four-way match for the NXT Women’s Championship announced for next week’s show.

This match was setup following an in-ring promo segment by Tiffany Stratton, Gigi Dolin, Kiana James, Blair Davenport, and Roxanne Perez. After Stratton had gloated about her current reign as NXT Women’s Champion and claimed she would be a better champion than Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Asuka, she was interrupted in succession by Gigi Dolin, Kiana James, and Blair Davenport who all claimed they were more deserving of a title show. This then led to Roxanne joining in on the interruption fun and after some talk, gave a punch to Stratton to cause a mass brawl to erupt.

Later in the show, Stratton was interviewed backstage over her promo mistakenly calling Lynch a NXT Women’s Champion and the brawl that took place in the ring. Stratton stated that was not how she wanted the “Summer of Tiff Tiff” to end and revealed that those four “Tiffy Wannabees” would get the chance to fight it out to see who gets to challenge for her NXT Women’s title at NXT No Mercy.
