WWE RAW Notes: WWE Tag Titles Match Added to Payback 2023, Intercontinental Title Match Set for Next Week’s RAW

Judgement Day vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Announced for Payback 2023

Monday’s WWE RAW show in Memphis, Tennessee featured one new match officially announced for the card of Payback 2023, which takes place on September 2nd at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This is an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match of Judgement Day (Damian Priest & Finn Balor) vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c).

This match was announced prior to the start of the Priest vs. Zayn match that opened the show as part of Judgement Day and Owens & Zayn’s feud with each other in recent months.

Later in the show, Owens and Zayn gave a backstage promo directed towards Judgement Day. Zayn stated that they are sick of doing this week after week in regards to Judgement Day always finding a way to come back every time they beat them and took offense to them getting a title shot after their DQ victory last week that they had caused to happen. Zayn stated that if Judgement Day wants to do it one more time, then fine and told Owens to reveal what they had in store for them at Payback. Owens responded stating that they had talked to WWE official Adam Pearce and got their request approved for their tag titles match to be held under Pittsburgh Steel City Street Fight rules. Owens also promised that things between them and Judgement Day will end this weekend.

Intercontinental Title Match Announced for Next Week’s RAW Show

Monday’s RAW show in Memphis also featured one new match officially announced for the card of next week’s RAW show in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This is an Intercontinental Championship match of Chad Gable vs. Gunther (c).

This match was setup in a promo segment by Gunther prior to the start of Ludwig Kaiser’s match with Chad Gable. During his promo, Gunther acknowledged that Gable became the first man to beat him in over 500 days but only by a countout. Gunther stated that while Gable technically gained a victory, he has not won anything in reality since he is still the Intercontinental Champion. Gunther then stated that Gable has only achieved one thing and that is being pissing him off. Following him going on a rant in German, Gunther stated that Gable will face him for his Intercontinental title at next week’s RAW show.

Gable interrupted stating that he would not SHOOOSH Gunther because he was making some good points. Gable boasted about beating Gunther last week in only ten seconds and claimed that it won’t take him ten seconds to take the Intercontinental title next week since he will only need one, two, three to do it referencing a pin count.
