More on Jade Cargill’s Departure from AEW

As noted before, Jade Cargill’s contract with AEW expired this past week and she is currently expected to report to WWE’s Performance Center this week.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Cargill’s contract with AEW is believed to have officially expired this past Friday and she would be able to go anywhere she wanted with no restrictions for her next career destination.

In regards to WWE, it was reported that Cargill is expected to sign an official contract with WWE this week but isn’t planned to make any appearance on tonight’s NXT show. Cargill reportedly is also currently expected to report to WWE’s Performance Center this week but it is currently not known if this is for a private tryout or part of this week’s larger indie talent tryouts.

Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that WWE officials have had long interest in signing Cargill. It was reported that as of this past July, several people associated with Cargill had told others that “big moves could be coming” in regards to her future without outright saying what those moves would be. It was also reported that while those close to Cargill were coy about her future plans and never outright mentioned WWE, high level AEW officials had been aware of her plans to leave the company and jump to WWE.

In regards to AEW, those close to Cargill reportedly stated that she was treated well by AEW upon leaving and there does not seem to be any ill will over her departure. Cargill reportedly received a nice ovation backstage and spoke with numerous talent about wrapping up her time in AEW at last week’s television tapings. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that AEW officials wanted to give her an appropriate sendoff.

WWE Reportedly Currently Working on Major Plans for Cargill & Cargill Expected to Skip NXT

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that Cargill is currently expected to skip WWE’s NXT developmental brand and make her official debut on their main roster instead.

Meltzer reported that WWE officials are currently working on main roster creative plans that are “high priority” in comparisons to others from NXT who have been called up in recent months such as an Alba Fyre with no real creative plans for them. Meltzer stated:

“They’re doing main roster creative for her right now. What would I call it, it’s high priority. They’re not bringing her in to be like — you know how they would bring in some of the NXT people like Von Wagner or Alba Fyre. Alba Fyre’s actually a good one. Or Katana Chance. You know [people] that are brought up and they have like no idea of what to do with them and then they just kind of disappear into the dust. And it’s almost like, ‘Why did we even bother calling them up?’ She is not earmarked to be like that. She’s earmarked for real stuff.”

In regards to the reports of Cargill reporting to WWE’s Performance Center, Meltzer reported that while Cargill had recently traveled to Orlando, it is currently not known if she had actually visited the Performance Center. Those spoken to reportedly stated that people within the Performance Center did not see Cargill in attendance but Meltzer stated that this does not mean that she was not there at some point.
