Wardlow Makes Surprise Return at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Show

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite 4-Year Anniversary show in Stockton, California featured Wardlow making his surprise return to AEW.

Following the return from a commercial break spot, Griff Garrison was seen in the ring preparing for his upcoming match. After a brief pause following AEW ring announcer’s match introduction for Garrison, Wardlow’s theme played and he came out as the surprise opponent. Wardlow proceeded to quickly destroy Garrison with a Powerbomb Symphony for the ref stoppage victory.

Thia was Wardlow’s first appearance in AEW since the June 17th episode of AEW Dynamite.


Sammy Guevara Not Medically Cleared to Compete, Kyle Fletcher Announced as Replacement for Tag Match on Wednesday’s Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite 4-Year Anniversary show also featured the official announcement of Sammy Guevara not being medically cleared to compete for tonight’s show.

Guevara had been originally scheduled to be competing in a tag team match with Konosuke Takeshita against Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega on the show.

During a backstage interview segment on the show, Don Callis revealed that Guevara was not medically cleared to compete and stated that he dug deep to find a worthy replacement, which he revealed to be Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher.

No other details were given regarding Guevara’s current medical situation.


Four New Matches Announced for Next Week’s Dynamite Title Tuesday Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite 4-Year Anniversary show in Stockton also featured four new matches officially announced for next week’s Dynamite Title Tuesday show, which takes place on October 10th.

The first new match announced was a TNT Championship #1 Contender match of Swerve Strickland vs. Bryan Danielson. This match was announced by AEW commentator Excalibur during his initial ad read for several of the matches for the card of next week’s show.

The second new match announced was an AEW International Championship match of Jon Moxley vs. Rey Fenix (c). This match was setup following Fenix successfully retaining his title against Nick Jackson. This led to AEW commentator announcing afterwards that Fenix would be defending his title in a rematch against Moxley at next week’s show.

The third new match announced was a single match of Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Chris Jericho. This match was setup following Hobbs attack on Jericho and Omega after their victory over the Don Callis Family in a tag team match during the show.

The fourth new match announced was a singles match of Jay White vs. Hangman Adam Page. This match was announced during AEW commentator Exaclibur’s ad read for the card of next week’s show.

Jay White vs. MJF for AEW World Title Announced for AEW Full Gear 2023

Wednesday’s Dynamite 4-Year Anniversary show also featured the first official match announced for AEW Full Gear 2023, which takes place on November 18th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.

This new match was announced to be an AEW World Championship match of Jay White vs. MJF (c).

This match was initially setup following last week’s show closing angle that featured White being attacked and laid out by a mysterious masked group of people lead by someone wearing a devil’s mask similar to MJF.

During tonight’s show, Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson and The Gunns called out MJF over their claims of him being responsible for the attack on White last week. MJF came out and after some back-and-forth insults banter, MJF went to the ring to confront BCG. This led to BCG getting out of the ring and laid a trap that resulted in White suddenly showing up and attacking MJF from behind with a Bladerunner. Following a barrage of insults by White claiming that MJF is not elite enough to wear the title, he issued a challenge to MJF for his AEW World title at next month’s Full Gear 2023 event. After recovering from the attack, MJF angrily responded accepting White’s challenge.

Powerhouse Hobbs Revealed as Newest Member of Don Callis Family

Wednesday’s Dynamite 4-Year Anniversary show also featured Powerhouse Hobbs being revealed as the newest member of the Don Callis Family.

Following Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho’s victory over Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher in a tag team match during the show, Powerhouse came out and attacking Omega and Jericho from behind while they were distracted by Callis. After an extended beatdown to both guy that featured a Callis and Takeshita joining in on the attack, Hobbs walked to the back alongside Callis.
