Two New Matches & One Updated Match Announced for Full Gear 2023

Wednesday’s Dynamite show in Louisville featured two new matches and one updated match officially announced for AEW Full Gear 2023, which takes place on November 18th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.

In regards to the new match, the first new match was announced to be an AEW International Championship match of Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy (c).

This match was initially setup following Cassidy’s victory over Claudio Castagnoli to retain his AEW International title. As Cassidy was celebrating his win, Moxley’s music interrupted and came out from the crowd to be with Claudio in the ring. This led to Cassidy running into the ring for a fight but was quickly beaten down by Moxley instead. In a follow-up backstage segment, Moxley aired his grievances about Rey Fenix injuring him and denying him the chance to win back his International title match. Moxley then called out Cassidy and bashed him over how much he hates him. Moxley finished by issuing a challenge for Cassidy’s International title at Full Gear 2023.

The second new match was announced to be Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland.

This match was initially setup during last week’s show following Strickland and Prince Nana breaking into Page’s home and badmouthing Page for being a bad father and left a Mogul Embassy shirt in Page’s baby’s crib. During tonight’s show, Strickland and Nana interrupted the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship match and insulted Page resulting in Page running out of the ring and chasing Strickland and Nana backstage and in the process costed him and the Young Bucks their titles. An angry Page attempted to attack Strickland backstage only to be held back by AEW officials. Later in the show, AEW commentator Excalibur announced that Tony Khan made it official that a rematch between Page and Strickland would be taking place at Full Gear 2023.

In regards to the new updated match, this was announced to be Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, & Nick Wayne vs. Sting, Darby Allin, & Adam Copeland.

This match was setup following an in-ring segment involving Copeland, Cage, Luchasaurus, and Wayne. In an in-ring interview, Copeland talked about the backstage confrontation he had with Sting & Allin last week and after some more talk, Copeland was about to say if he will team with Sting and Allin at Full Gear before being interrupted by Cage and his pals. Cage proceeded to claim that he is going to retire Sting at Full Gear whether he likes it or not and bashed both Allin and Copeland going as far as to threatening to snap Copeland’s neck if he gets involved. This led to a brawl breaking out between Copeland and Cage, Luchasaurus, & Wayne resulting in Sting and Allin coming out to save Copeland and helped cleared Cage and his pals out of the ring. An angry Copeland got on the mic and stated that he is joining Sting and Allin’s team as the third member of their team for their Trios match against Cage and his pals at Full Gear 2023.

Updated card for AEW Full Gear 2023:

  • AEW World Championship – Jay White vs. MJF (c)
  • AEW Women’s World Championship – Toni Storm vs. Hikaru Shida (c)
  • AEW International Championship – Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy (c)

Strickland kept chanting “Who’s house” on the mic and then stated he was at Page’s house last week which led to an irate Page running out of the ring and chasing Strickland & Nana to the back. This left the Young Bucks in a 2-on-3 handicap situation for the rest of the match. Nick Jackson attempted to fight off the Mogul Embassy on his own that was short lived before being laid out by Brian Cage. Matt Jackson then got involved only to get laid out by the Gates of Agony in return. Throughout the show, MJF was seen backstage seeking out potential partners for his 8-Man Tag match against Bullet Club Gold. The Acclaimed’s Max Caster attempted multiple times to persuade MJF to pick them as his partners only to be turned down each time. The final time involved Caster giving MJF a bag containing special gear he got for him and the stipulation of they must scissor as part of his terms. This led to MJF telling off Caster and leaving only to be stopped by Jeff Jarrett and his pals saying that MJF had no one left and to make them his partners. This led to a depressed look by MJF over his situation but stared at the bag in his hand given to him by Caster before the segment ended.
