Updated AEW Continental Classic Standings & Results

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show featured two more group stage matches for AEW’s ongoing Continental Classic tournament, which was both for the Blue League.

The first Blue League match was Eddie Kingston defeating Claudio Castagnoli.

The finish to this match involved Kingston and Castagnoli exchanging palm strikes and chops while on their knees leading to both men standing back up and continuing their chops and slaps fest exchange. Kingston hit Castagnoli with a Uraken for the nearfall. Kingston then hit another Urakan to lay out Castagnoli for a nearfall and attempted a powerbomb only for it to be countered by Castagnoli with a roll-up. This led to Kingston countering Castagnoli with his own roll-up for the pinfall victory and scoring his first 3 points in the Continental Classic tournament.

The second Blue League match was Andrade El Idolo defeated Bryan Danielson.

The finish to this match involved Danielson trying to hook in a LeBell Lock only for Andrade to get his foot on the rope to break the hold. Andrade then hit Danielson with a spinning back elbow for the neat fall. Andrade and Danielson then engaged in a slugfest leading to Danielson hitting a running dropkick to Andrade in the corner. This led to Andrade responding with another spinning back elbow strike and followed it with a running knees to the back of Danielson’s head. Andrade then clawed at Danielson’s face and turned him around in the corner to hit another running knees attack. Andrade then hit the El Idolo hammerlock ddt to Danielson for the pinfall victory to secure himself another 3 points.

Saturday’s Collision show also featured one new match officially announced for next week’s AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming show on December 13th in Arlington, Texas.

This new match was announced to be a singles match of Riho vs. Ruby Soho.

This match was setup following a backstage segment involving Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Jake Hager, The Outcasts, and Anna Jay. AEW backstage interviewer Renee Paquette asked Menard and Parker how it feels getting to wrestle in front of their hometown of Montreal. Menard and Parker responded talking about their upcoming match and wanting their names to be added to the list of all-time Montreal greats. Soho then showed up and started flirting with Parker leading to Saraya and Jay coming out and Saraya complaining that Soho would abandon her just like Toni Storm did. Saraya also stated that she will not be in Soho’s corner when she faces off against Riho in a match at next week’s Collision show.
