Update on AEW Dynamite Week 216 Ratings – November 22, 2023

As noted before, the November 22nd episode of AEW Dynamite drew 845,000 viewers and a 0.26 key demographic ratings on TBS. Viewership and ratings numbers for that week’s show was originally delayed due to that week’s Thanksgiving holiday.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s show that week was ranked in ninth place for key demographic rankings. Meltzer reported that the reason for the mixed results was due to the large gains from their Over 50 viewership group which mostly offset the declines from all of their key demographic viewership groups, which was down 8.4% overall compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer also reported that AEW benefited from their Big Bang Theory lead-in viewership being higher than usual, which was 945,000 viewers. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s overrun for this week actually lost viewers compared to the eighth quarter hour which would mean AEW did not get any real boost from those tuning in to the next show on TBS and also lost a lot of DVR viewers due to the show likely did not record the extra seven minutes.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics drew 2,027,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Baylor vs. Oregon State drew 328,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Florida vs. Pittsburgh drew 308,000 viewers on ESPN2, the NHL game of Boston Bruins vs. Florida Panthers drew 517,000 viewers on TNT, Survivor drew 4,901,000 viewers on CBS, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 805,000 viewers on BRAVO, Challenge: New Champion drew 382,000 viewers on MTV, Sistas Series drew 816,000 viewers on BET, and Expedition Unknown drew 1,092,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 337,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 73,000 viewers (down 3.9%), Females 18-34 was 41,000 viewers (down 14.6%), Males 35-49 was 160,000 viewers (down 3%), and Females 35-49 was 52,000 viewers (down 33.3%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 233,000 male viewers and 93,000 female viewers for a split of 69.4% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 971,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 733,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 4% in overall viewership and down 020% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 31.3% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for November 29th

The November 29th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 858,000 viewers and a 0.29 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to a stronger than usual lead-in viewership from The Big Bang Theory, which drew 1,015,000 viewers, and the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 39.5% and 17.3% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College basketball game of Duke vs. Arkansas drew 1,399,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Tennessee vs. North Carolina drew 1,244,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Detroit Red Wings vs. New York Rangers drew 757,000 viewers on TNT, Survivor drew 5,020,000 viewers on CBS, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,013,000 viewers on BRAVO, Challenge: New Champion drew 415,000 viewers on MTV, Sistas Series drew 972,000 viewers on BET, and Expedition Unknown drew 1,032,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 386,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 102,000 viewers (up 39.7%), Females 18-34 was 57,000 viewers (up 39%), Males 35-49 was 166,000 viewers (up 3.8%), and Females 35-49 was 61,000 viewers (up 17.6%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 268,000 male viewers and 118,000 female viewers for a split of 69.4% in favor of males.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for November 25th

The November 25th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings but gained a slight increase in key demographic rankings. That week’s episode was notable for being preempted to a Saturday night timeslot due to TNT’s NHL season commitments and also going head-to-head against WWE’s Survivor Series 2023 event.

AEW drew 264,000 viewers and a 0.08 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 34th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due a combination of that week’s show airing outside of its normal date and timeslot and also the very stiff competition from both sports and WWE’s event that night. Another reason reportedly was due to the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership, which were down 23.1% and 14.8% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains from their older male key demographic viewership group, which was up 1.8% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College football game of Florida State vs. Florida drew 5,072,000 viewers on ESPN, the College Football game of West Virginia vs. Baylor drew 691,000 viewers on FS1, and the College Football game of Kansas vs. Cincinnati drew 374,000 viewers on ESPN2.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 110,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 18,000 viewers (down 35.7%), Females 18-34 had 12,000 viewers (up 9.1%), Males 35-49 had 57,000 viewers (up 1.8%), and Females 35-49 had 23,000 viewers (down 14.8%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 75,000 male viewer and 35,000 female viewers for a split of 68.2% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 40.7% in overall viewership and down 39.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 46.4% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Collision Viewership for November 25th

The November 25th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a slight increase in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for going head-to-head against WWE’s Survivor Series 2023 event.

AEW drew 317,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 28th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their Overall 50 viewership and overall female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 8.3% for Females 18-34 and 26.1% for Females 35-49 compared to two weeks ago show. Meltzer reported that this mostly offset the very stiff competition from sports and WWE’s event that night and the large declines from their overall male key demographic viewership group, which was down 48.5% for Males 18-34 and 15.1% for Males 35-49. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s overall viewership was the lowest ever for a Collision show in its regular night timeslot in AEW Collision history and continuing the trend of Collision setting all-time lows whenever they go head-to-head against a WWE event.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College football game of Georgia vs. Georgia Tech drew 5,331,000 viewers on ABC, the College football game of Iowa State vs. Kansas State drew 3,292,000 viewers on FOX, the College football game of Florida State vs. Florida drew 5,072,000 viewers on ESPN, the College Football game of West Virginia vs. Baylor drew 691,000 viewers on FS1, the College Football game of Kansas vs. Cincinnati drew 374,000 viewers on ESPN2, and On Patrol Live drew 743,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 121,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 17,000 viewers (down 48.5% from two weeks ago), Females 18-34 had 13,000 viewers (up 8.3%), Males 35-49 had 62,000 viewers (down 15.1%), and Females 35-49 had 29,000 viewers (up 26.1%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 79,000 male viewers and 42,000 female viewers for a split of 65.3% in favor of males.
