ROH Officially Reveals New ROH Women’s World TV Title on Thursday’s ROH TV Show

Thursday’s ROH TV show for Ring of Honor featured ROH owner Tony Khan making a special announcement.

This announcement was the official debut of a new ROH Women’s World Television Championship for the company.

No other details were given by Khan regarding when an inaugural champion will be crowned for the title or how this will be determined.


Sami Callihan Signed to Agent Deal with MLW

As noted before, Sami Callihan’s contract with Impact Wrestling expired this past September and is currently a free agent. Callihan was recently announced to be making an appearance for Major League Wrestling at their Kings of Colosseum 2024 event on January 6, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured MLW owner Court Bauer as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Bauer revealing that Callihan was recently hired to a backstage agent or producer job in the company. Bauer stated that Callihan will be working as both an active wrestler and agent in the company.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

As noted before, Shelton Benjamin was released from WWE this past September. Benjamin released a video on Instagram on Thursday following his no compete clause expiring that day. In the video, Benjamin woke up from his three month vacation in reference to his no compete period and stated that it was time to make some money again in reference to him being available for bookings.

Thursday’s Holiday Special event for Game Changer Wrestling in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey featured AJ Francis (former Top Dolla in WWE) making a surprise appearance. During the event, a mystery masked person came out and attacked Joey Janela. This person revealed themselves to be Francis who then continued his attack on Janela. Francis was previously announced to be facing Janela in a singles match at GCW’s Look at Me event next month.

WrestleCon recently announced that The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) will be making an appearance for the company at their WrestleCon 2024 on April 4-7, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Japanese news outlet Facta reported that Tokyo city government officials are currently looking into a proposal that was recently submitted that would potentially involve legendary wrestling venue Tokyo Dome being torn down and replaced with luxury apartments. It was also reported that a vote for this proposal is currently expected to take place in Spring of 2024.

Thursday’s Road to Wrestle Kingdom event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Tokyo, Japan featured Taichi defeating Yoshinobu Kanemaru in a Whiskey Bottle Ladder match to successfully defend his Provisional King of Pro Wrestling. As a result of Taichi winning the final Provisional KoPW title match of this year, Taichi was declared as the official King of Pro Wrestling Champion for 2023.

NJPW announced one new match for the card of their Road to Tokyo Dome event on December 22nd in Tokyo, Japan:

  • Coffin match – Catch 2/2 (Francesico Akira & TJP) vs. Bullet Club War Dogs (Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney)

Revolution Pro Wrestling announced one new match for the card of their High Stakes 2024 event on February 18, 2024 in London, England:

  • RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship – Will Ospreay vs. Michael Oku (c)

Pro Wrestling NOAH announced one new match for the card of their The New Year 2024 event on January 2, 2024 in Ariake, Japan:

  • 12-Man Tag Team Elimination match – Shota Umino, Kiyomiya, Oiwa, Junta Miyawaki, Shuji Kondo, & Daiki Inaba vs. House of Torture (EVIL, Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi, Dick Togo, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & SHO)

Pro Wrestling Revolver recently announced one new match for the card of their Revolver What event on February 17, 2024 in Grand Prairie, Texas:

  • Chris Bey vs. Lio Rush
