WWE: Seth Rollins Contract Update, Settlement Reached in MLW Lawsuit, Carmelo Hayes Set for US Title Contender Tournament

Seth Rollins’ WWE Contract Reportedly Expires in Mid-2024

Seth Rollins’ contract with WWE reportedly is currently set to expire in June of 2024, according to Fightful Select.

It was reported that their sources stated that there has not been any talks as of yet between Rollins and WWE officials for a potential new deal. It was reported that Rollins is well-like and respected by WWE’s management and an offer will “obviously” be made sometime between now and June due to the company views him as a priority.

It was also reported that Becky Lynch’s contract is also currently set to expire in June of 2024.


MLW Antitrust Lawsuit Against WWE Update – WWE & MLW Reached Settlement Deal

As noted before, Major League Wrestling’s original antitrust lawsuit against WWE was dismissed this past February and had filed a new amended lawsuit this past March.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that WWE filed a motion to The United States District Court, Northern Division of California, San Jose Division earlier today stating that they had reached a settlement deal with MLW based on recent court records.

In accordance with the Court’s Standing Order for Civil Cases, Section IV.F.1, Plaintiff MLW Media LLC and Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (together, the “Parties”), hereby submit this Notice of Settlement to notify the Court that the Parties have settled this action. The Parties are in the process of completing the final settlement documents and expect to file the appropriate dismissal papers within the next thirty (30) days.

Johnson reported that the court has scheuled a hearing on January 24, 2024 for WWE and MLW to discuss their settlement. Johnson also reported that both WWE and MLW have until January 18th to file “the status of settlement efforts as well as the amount of additional time necessary to finalize and file a dismissal” which would automatically cancel this scheduled hearing.


Carmelo Hayes Announced as NXT Competitor for U.S. Title Contender Tournament

WWE is currently holding a new tournament to determine the next official contender for Logan Paul’s United States Championship. Of the eight-man field, seven of the competitors are from WWE’s SmackDown brand and one is a mystery competitor from their NXT brand.

NXT head booker Shawn Michaels recently announced that NXT talent Carmelo Hayes will be the official competitor representing NXT in this tournament.

Hayes will be facing off against Grayson Waller in a First Round match on the Friday, December 15th SmackDown show in Green Bay, Wisconsin
