WWE held two sets of SmackDown television tapings on Friday at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The first taping was for Friday’s live episode of SmackDown while the second taping was for next week’s show on December 22nd.
Full results from WWE’s SmackDown tapings for December 22nd episode:
- United States Championship #1 Contender Tournament Semifinal Round match – Santos Escobar defeated Bobby Lashley. During the match NXT talents Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo made their surprise returns to the main roster and helped out Escobar for his victory.
- NXT North American Championship – Dragon Lee (c) defeated Butch
- AJ Styles gave an in-ring promo dressed all in black. Styles stated that he did not care about either Randy Orton or LA Knight and wants a shot at Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at next month’s Royal Rumble 2024 event. This led to Orton and Knight both coming out to interrupt resulting in SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis coming out and making a triple threat match for the New Year’s Revolution special episode of SmackDown. Aldis stated that the winner of this match will officially get to face Reigns for his title at Royal Rumble 2024.
- Eight-Women Tag Team match – Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega, & Michin defeated Damage CTRL (Bayley, Asuka, Kairi Sane, & IYO SKY). During the match, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre came out and attacked Sane.
- United States Championship #1 Contender Tournament Semifinal Round match – Kevin Owens defeated Carmelo Hayes
- AJ Styles defeated Solo Sikoa by Disqualification. During the match, Roman Reigns came out and attacked Styles resulting in the referee ringing for the bell. This led to a brawl breaking out between The Bloodline, Styles, Randy Orton, & LA Knight which ended with Knight standing tall to close out the show.
