Swerve Strickland, Hangman Adam Page, & HOOK Confront Samoa Joe Over AEW World Title, AEW World Title Match Set for Jan. 17th Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite Homecoming 2024 show featured Swerve Strickland, Hangman Adam Page, and HOOK all confronting Samoa Joe for his AEW World Championship.

During an in-ring promo segment, Samoa Joe introduced himself to the crowd as their new AEW World Champion which led to a “Thank you, Joe” chant by the crowd in response. Joe stated that he was going to make some changes to the championship challenging protocol with the biggest change being no more will people have to come out to the ring and complain or make their comments on social media if they want a shot at his title. Joe stated that if you want a shot, you bring your record and accomplishments to him and if you qualify you get a pass to come out and get stomped in front of everyone who wants to cheer for you. Joe then proclaimed that a new championship era is here and for all those who want to challenge for his belt, the champ will be waiting.

This led to Swerve Strickland and the Mogul Embassy coming out to interrupt. Strickland stated that this is his first time in Daily’s Place but he’s going to call this “whose house?”, which led to the crowd responding “Swerve’s House.” Strickland then stated that he is going to take the AEW World title and when he does and Joe decides to make this personal, he will be more than happy to do. Strickland and Joe then locked into a staredown that was interrupted by Hangman Adam Page. Page stated that he is also calling his shot and claimed he will regain his AEW World title this year. After some words by Strickland directed towards Page, Strickland and his group left leading to Page telling Joe that he has not forgotten what he did to him and claimed that he will take that title from him as revenge. Page then left the ring.

Before Joe had a chance to celebrate with his title, HOOK’s music played and came out to confront Joe. HOOK and Joe got into a heated face-to-face confrontation that led to HOOK saying “one week” before leaving the ring. After HOOK left, Joe held up his title and resumed his celebration as his music played.

Afterwards, it was announced that HOOK vs. Joe for the AEW World title was made official for next week’s Dynamite show.

Deonna Purrazzo AEW In-Ring Debut Announced for This Saturday’s Collision Show

Wednesday’s Dynamite Homecoming 2024 show also featured the announcement of Deonna Purrazzo’s official AEW in-ring debut taking place at this Saturday’s Collision show in Norfolk, Virginia.

This announcement was made during a backstage interview segment involving Purrazzo and Red Velvet. AEW backstage interviewer Renee Paquette asked Purrazzo for her thoughts about Toni Storm’s disparaging comments about her earlier in the show and going right after the AEW Women’s World Championship. Purrazzo responded saying what Storm said that was fine and she is currently looking forward to seeing Storm ahead of her official AEW in-ring debut at this Saturday’s Collision show. This led to Red Velvet walking in and talked about Purrazzo’s upcoming in-ring debut. Red Velvet then issued a challenge to be Purrazzo’s debut opponent that night, which led to Purrazzo responding asking which arm is her “stirring arm” before walking away leaving a confused Red Velvet behind.
