More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for January 10th

The January 10th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffered a slight decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings but gained a small increase in key demographic ratings. This week’s episode was notable for being the Dynamite Homecoming 2024 special.

AEW drew 797,000 viewers and a 0.29 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results this week was due to stiff news programming competition that night from the 2024 Republican Presidential Debate and Donald Trump Town Hall, which drew a combined 7,050,000 viewers and the decline from their Over 50 viewership demographic group, which was down 10% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly mostly offset the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership, older male key demographic viewership, and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were up 7.4%, 11.6%, and 23.6% respectively compared to last week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2024 CNN Iowa GOP Debate drew 2,624,000 viewers on CNN, the Iowa Town Hall with Trump drew 4,426,000 viewers on FOX News, the NBA game of Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans drew 1,577,000 viewers on ABC, the College basketball game of North Carolina vs. North Carolina State drew 1,097,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of UCONN vs. Xavier drew 265,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of Providence vs. St. John’s drew 216,000 viewers on FS1, the College basketball game of Oklahoma vs. TCU drew 173,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Clemson vs. Virginia Tech drew 179,000 viewers on ESPN2, the NHL game of Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars drew 362,000 viewers on TNT, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,103,000 viewers on BRAVO, Sistas Series drew 1,018,000 viewers on BET, and Challenge New Champion drew 528,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 377,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 96,000 viewers (up 6.7%), Females 18-34 was 51,000 viewers (up 10.9%), Males 35-49 was 163,000 viewers (up 11.6%), and Females 35-49 was 68,000 viewers (up 23.6%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 259,000 male viewers and 119,000 female viewers for a split of 68.4% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,001,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 636,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 16.7% in overall viewership and down 12.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 15.1% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 5th

The January 5th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a small increase in key demographic ratings, and a slight increase in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 406,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 18th place

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the end of the current College football season and the large gain from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 28.8% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large gain from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was up 33.3% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Memphis Grizzles vs. Los Angeles Lakers drew 1,719,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Illinois vs. Purdue drew 904,000 viewers on FS1, Love After Lockup drew 339,000 viewers on WETV, House Hunters drew 989,000 viewers on Home and Garden TV, and On Patrol Live drew 880,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 181,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 43,000 viewers (up 53.6%), Females 18-34 had 25,000 viewers (up 4.2%), Males 35-49 had 74,000 viewers (up 5.7%), and Females 35-49 had 40,000 viewers (up 33.3%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 117,000 male viewer and 65,000 female viewers for a split of 64.1% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 26.3% in overall viewership and down 7.7% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 13% compared to the same week last year.

More on AEW Collision Viewership for January 6th

The January 6th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic rankings, and a small decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 402,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 20th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s declines that week was due to stiff sports competition from the NFL game of Houston vs. Indianapolis, which drew a combined 19,647,000 viewers, and the large declines from their younger key demographic viewership and older male key demographic viewership groups, which was down 31.9% and 21.7% compared to two week’s ago show. This reportedly offset the large gain from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was up 56.5% compared to two week’s ago show.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NFL game of Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts drew 12,026,000 viewers on ABC and 7,621,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Ohio State vs. Indiana drew 690,000 viewers on FOX, the College basketball game of Texas Tech vs. Texas drew 232,000 viewers on ESPN2, the 2024 Supercross Anaheim race drew 228,000 viewers on USA Network, and On Patrol Live drew 776,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 174,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 25,000 viewers (down 19.4% from two week’s ago), Females 18-34 had 24,000 viewers (down 41.5%), Males 35-49 had 90,000 viewers (down 21.7%), and Females 35-49 had 36,000 viewers (up 56.5%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 115,000 male viewers and 60,000 female viewers for a split of 66.1% in favor of males.
