Drew McIntyre Declares for Men’s Royal Rumble Match at Royal Rumble 2024

Monday’s WWE RAW show featured Drew McIntyre officially declaring himself for the Men’s Royal Rumble match at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2024 event, which takes place on January 27th at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This was setup during an in-ring promo segment between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk to start off the show. McIntyre talked about his loss to Seth Rollins last week for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and stated that maybe it was time for him to leave WWE. McIntyre then stated that his issues with Priest, Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso being brought over to RAW due to Cody having magical political power, Rhodes himself, and CM Punk making his return with wide open arms made him now reconsider his idea of leaving WWE. McIntyre then mocked Punk and stated that maybe if he left for nine years, then he will get a hero’s reception on his return.

This led to Punk coming out to interrupt. Punk and McIntyre engaged in some back-and-forth banter involving McIntyre boasting about main eventing a WrestleMania unlike Punk and calling Punk a devil and Punk responding back stating that he is a leader unlike McIntyre and isn’t the devil but Satan himself when he’s angered. This led to McIntyre officially declaring himself for the Men’s Royal Rumble and claiming he will win the match and headline WrestleMania 40. CM Punk responded stating that there is only one person who can stop him from accomplishing his goals and that is Punk. Punk then claimed that he will be the one to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match and maybe he will be nice and eliminate Drew last.

Current field for Men’s Royal Rumble match:

  • Cody Rhodes
  • CM Punk
  • Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Bobby Lashley
  • Drew McIntyre

Gunther Return & WWE World Title Match Announced for Jan. 15th RAW Show

Monday’s RAW show also featured the announcement of Gunther making his return to WWE’s RAW brand at next week’s RAW show on January 15th in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

This will be Gunther’s first appearance on RAW since the December 18th episode of RAW.

It was also announced that the card for next week’s show will also feature a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match of Jinder Mahal vs. Seth Rollins (c).

This match was setup during an in-ring promo segment involving Rollins and Mahal. Rollins gave a promo talking about his track record at WrestleMania when it comes to winning titles and stated that there was one thing he has never done. Rollins revealed this to be him walking into WrestleMania as a World Champion. Rollins then boasted about his reign as WWE World Champion and claimed within the past year that he made this title he has the most prestigious prize in all of wrestling. Rollins then asked who was going to be the next person he beats at WrestleMania and listed several names before being interrupted by Mahal’s music. Mahal came out and claimed he did more as a revolutionary in five minutes last week than Rollins has done in years. Mahal also claimed that he beat Orton with ease to become WWE Champion but yet Rollins disrespects him and overlooks him. Mahal also stated that this direspect will not be tolerated any longer and he has known Rollins for a long time. Rollins responded stating that the reason Mahal has been overlooked is due to this being on purpose since they all have been trying to forget about him until last week. After some more words by Rollins, Rollins dared Mahal to take a swing. After Mahal refused, Rollins tried to walk away only for Mahal to attack him from behind and start a brawl, which led to Rollins sending Mahal out of the ring. Later in the show, it was announced that Mahal will be facing off against Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight title at next week’s show.

Current card for January 15th WWE RAW show:

  • Awesome Truth (R-Truth & The Miz) vs. Judgement Day (Finn Balor & Damian Priest)
