Steve Austin Comments on Interest in Potential In-Ring Return & Match with CM Punk

ESPN held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin. One of the topics discussed included Austin’s thoughts about his interest in a potential in-ring return in the future.

“I said I’d never get in a ring again unless all the stars aligned. And for some reason, somehow, they all did. And at the age of 57, I headlined the first night of WrestleMania. I never thought I’d do that. If you’d have told me that when I retired in [2003], I’d have said, ‘You’re crazy.’ So I’m not gonna sit here and say no to anything, because you never say never in this crazy business of sports entertainment.”

Austin also gave his thoughts about who he would want for a potential opponent if he were to wrestle again.

When asked whether he had an idea of what opponent he would want in what would likely be his final career match, Austin said he did. But he did not want to mention the name, because he was not promoting the match, nor did he want to add pressure on WWE or the foe to make it happen.

“I like Punk, and I think Punk likes me — so, as long as he can take a [Stone Cold] Stunner [laughs]. I consider him a great friend, a great guy and a great wrestler who’s had a great career. We’ll see.”

Seth Rollins Comments on Potential of UFC Fighters Having WWE Careers

ESPN’s Marc Raimodi held a recent interview with Seth Rollins. One of the topics discussed included Rollins’ thoughts on if he currently sees anyone from UFC transitioning over to a future wrestling career in WWE.

“No. They don’t have the stamina for it. They don’t fight every single weekend. This championship goes everywhere. It goes everywhere. It goes to like Biloxi. Especially the top stars over there, they are catered to a certain way. That’s great, that’s their style, that’s what works for them, I understand that, you fight maybe once or twice a year. You’re crazy, you fight three times a year. To fight over 100 times a year, make all those towns, still be able to train, still be able to do all the media, it’s an exhausting industry. I don’t want to knock Ronda Rousey because I love Ronda and she did a lot for our industry, women in our industry, and the fight industry in general, but it was tough for Ronda. She tried her damndest and it was hard for her. I’d love for somebody to come over and take a crack if you think you can hang, but it’s hard.”

In response to a question if there was anyone in UFC he wanted to call out specifically, Rollins stated:

“I’ll call them all out. I don’t care. Try it out. I can’t do what they do. I’d go in there and get knocked out and choked out in two seconds. I’d probably do better than Punk [CM Punk], but I would still lose, most likely. They can’t come and do what we do either. They are the same umbrella, but two totally different worlds.
