Jack Perry Comments on Joining House of Torture & His Current AEW Absence

As noted before, AEW talent Jack Perry officially joined House of Torture as their newest member at this past Wednesday’s 52nd Anniversary Event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Tokyo, Japan.

Following his match at the event, Jack Perry gave his thoughts in a backstage post-match press conference about wrestling in his first match at the event since AEW’s All In event and joining House of Torture.

“I feel amazing. You want to know why? I haven’t had a wrestling match in six months. Just for a point of reference, through the absolute worst time in my entire life, I took one month, for me. Now, why six months? It ain’t because of me. It’s because other people are afraid. Nobody wants to have the difficult conversations. Everyone is afraid to let me come back, or even let me go, even when I fucking asked for it. I get it. Nobody wants to look in the mirror, so they need somebody to pin up on a cross so they can go about their daily lives and act like nothing ever happened. That’s over now. There are a very select handful of people in the world who still have my back. Tonight, I think I found a few more.”

Following Thursday’s New Japan Cup 2024 event in Tokyo, Jack Perry gave his thoughts in a backstage post-match press conference about the recent online criticisms over him joining House of Torture.

“Second match, Japan, 2-0. First time with the new team. Undefeated so far with me, ‘Scapegoat’ Jack Perry on the team. I see a lot of people on the internet talk sh*t about the HOUSE OF TORTURE. Why? I appreciate these guys, because they’re not afraid to be themselves. They’re not afraid to do what has to be done. So everybody out there complaining, cry me a f*cking river.”

Morton stated “First and foremost, I extended my contract with the National Wrestling Alliance a few months ago to go into December 31, 2025. That being said, there are goals in mind. I was the NWA Junior Champion, I defend that belt in Canada, Mexico, Australia, Europe, all throughout the United States and I left a mark. I was the modern day Ric Flair as far as taking the belt and defending it all over the place. Now, my eyes is on the bigger prize. There are tag team belts in mind, but who is to say I wouldn’t want to be the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion? That’s the bottom line. That’s the reason I extended my contract. I put 110% into the NWA and I believe in it all the way.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

I was talking to Gail Kim from July last year when I first moved over here. I just really wanted to go to TNA. I knew that was where I wanted to be. So, that’s what I was really shooting for and I can’t remember when the decision was made for Hard To Kill. It’s all very kind of blurry now. It was so exciting at the time and overwhelming and just, it all still feels like a dream to me.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)

In a recent interview with the Midnight Wrestle & Kingdom podcast, Rocky Romero gave his thoughts about his current goals and the future of his wrestling career and his remaining career goals. Romero stated “My personal goal at the moment is — obviously, now I’m 41 years old so, I feel like my in-ring career is gonna start to slow down in the next three-to-four years so, I want to — so last year, I took a step back from New Japan, right? To really focus on New Japan STRONG and not coming to Japan as much as I like. But also to give opportunities to new talents so they can have an opportunity in Japan because if I stay, maybe, you know, Kevin Knight doesn’t get an opportunity to be in the Best of the Super Juniors. But, if I, at almost 41, I decided, okay, I’m gonna take an excursion away from New Japan and try to be the ambassador for New Japan Pro-Wrestling worldwide; to work with AEW, to work with TNA, to work with CMLL. So that’s been my primary goal last year and I’d like to continue that this year and focusing on our partnerships and focusing on New Japan in America. But I still would like one opportunity to try to become IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion because that’s still something that I couldn’t accomplish as Rocky Romero. I was able to accomplish (it) as Black Tiger, but, that was almost 20 years ago and if I ever got the opportunity again, I would love to be champion.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
