Jon Moxley Comments on Getting IWGP World Title Opportunity in NJPW & Upcoming Match Against Naito

New Japan Pro Wrestling recently released a Road To Naito video featuring Jon Moxley’s thoughts about his upcoming match against Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Friday’s Windy City Riot 2024 event.

“Shots at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship don’t come around every day. Even if I win, it’s not going to matter. I’ll be the most overlooked, disrespected, forgotten about, taken for granted wrestler in the history of this business. It’s not going to matter, but it means something to me. I’ve been doing this since I was 19. Since the first championship I ever won. I see the mountain, I climb the mountain. Everybody standing next to me looks up and says it’s too high. ‘You’re not going to do that, you can’t do that.’ I say, ‘Watch me.’ Then, I find a higher one, and I climb that. Then, I find a higher one, and I climb that, and a higher one. Now, I’m about to do something that nobody in the history of pro wrestling has ever done.”

In a recent interview with the AEW Close Up show on YouTube, Samoa Joe gave his thoughts about him making his official return to Ring of Honor at their Supercard of Honor 2022 event. Joe stated “I mean obviously, Ring of Honor holds a very special place in my heart. To come back to it after all these years and to help it in its next iteration, to become a champion and represent the brand once again. It was a tremendous honor for me and it means a tremendous amount to me because Ring of Honor is a place where I made my mark in the world. Ring of Honor is a place where several, several very talented grapplers of the industry over have made their mark and I think it’ll go down in the annals of history as one of the most influential organizations to ever be in this industry, so to come back and be a part of that, it meant a tremendous amount to me. I think that the ceiling of where I was, oh, this guy, he’s coming off of a lot of inactivity. We’ll put him in ROH. He’ll do what he does there, do what he does best and it’ll be a little bit more familiar atmosphere for him than AEW and listen, if I get a foot in the door anywhere, I’m gonna kick it wide open, I’m gonna take things over. There was no different anywhere else I’ve worked, there’s no different here in AEW.” (Transcript h/t: PostWrestling.com)
