Tripel H Proclaims Start of New Era of WWE at WrestleMania 40

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 40 Night 1 event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania featured WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque officially proclaiming the start of a new era in WWE.

At the start of the show, Levesque came out to the ring and gave a brief speech asking everyone if they were ready for WrestleMania and loudly proclaimed tonight to be the start of a brand new era in WWE history. Following Levesque’s speech, WWE commentator Michael Cole stated that he believes that this new era should be called the “Triple H Era.”

This year’s WrestleMania 40 event is the first WrestleMania in WWE history to not feature any involvement in any capacity by Vince McMahon.

A-Town Down Under Wins SmackDown Tag Tiles & Awesome Truth Wins RAW Tag Titles at WrestleMania 40

Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 40 Night 1 event also featured WWE officially splitting up the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.

This took place during the Six-Pack Challenge Ladder match at the event with the rules being that to win the match, both sets of RAW and SmackDown Tag Team titles had to each be pulled down but not necessarily at the same time. WWE hoisted both belts up in the air separate enough from each other prior to the start of the match.

During the match, A-Town Down Under’s Grayson Waller successfully pulled down the SmackDown Tag Team title making them the official new champions but the match continued due to the RAW Tag Team titles still being up in the air.

Near the end of the match, R-Truth and Damien Priest were the last two in the ring and brawled leading to R-Truth hitting an AA to Priest sending him out of the ring. Truth then pulled down the RAW Tag Team titles to end the match.

As a result of A-Town Down Under and Awesome Truth’s victories, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship officially became defunct.

Sami Zayn Wins Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 40

Saturday’s WrestleMania 40 Night 1 event also featured Sami Zayn defeating Gunther to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

As a result of Zayn’s victory, Gunther’s record setting Intercontinental Championship reign officially ended at 667 days. This was also Zayn’s first ever singles championship victory of his main roster career in WWE.

Bloodline Rules Set for Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match at WrestleMania 40 Night 2

Saturday’s WrestleMania 40 Night 1 show also featured The Bloodline’s The Rock & Roman Reigns defeating Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes in the main event.

As a result of Rollins and Rhodes’ loss, the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Rhodes and Reigns on Night 2 will now be held under Bloodline Rules, which means anything goes.
