As noted before, Kenny Omega will be making his in-ring return at AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s upcoming co-promoted Wrestle Dynasty event in January 5, 2025 in Japan. Omega has been out of action since this past January due to diverticulitis and surgery.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Omega’s current plans for his full-time in-ring return following this January’s Wrestle Dynasty event is for him to take it slow before going back to a full-time wrestling schedule. Omega reportedly is hoping to ease into a full-time work schedule down the line and hoping everything holds up in regards to his body’s health situation.
Meltzer reported that the reason why Omega is doing his first match in New Japan and not in AEW is due to Wrestle Dynasty being a joint show and in a sense, it would also count as AEW’s debut event in Japan. Meltzer also reported that Omega making his return for a joint show in Japan would mean the most for him.
