Ring of Honor reportedly is currently closing in on signing a new television deal for ROH TV, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that Chris Jericho’s promo during this past Wednesday’s AEW Fright Night Dynamite show in Cleveland, Ohio was meant to be a “FU” to critics who had been predicting doom for AEW in regards to claiming AEW would not get a new TV deal better than the one they had before and would always lose money. Meltzer reported that Jericho’s promo was also meant to be a teaser of ROH getting a new TV deal as well.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that ROH officials are currently in negotiations for a new TV deal and TruTV has been rumored to be the network involved. Meltzer also reported that TruTv getting involved in wrestling would be part of their current strategy of transitioning into being a sports channel for prime time programming.
No other details in regards to a potential timetable when the deal might be done or financials for the potential deal are currently known.
