Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita Announced for Dynamite Grand Slam Australia

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee featured one new match announced for the card of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam: Australia, which takes place on February 15th at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia.

This new match announced was a tag team match of Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita).

This match was initially setup over recent shows over Omega and Ospreay’s bad blood issues with the Don Callis Family. During tonight’s show, Ospreay and Omega came out to the ring for an interview with Tony Schiavone. Ospreay talked about how a lot of stuff has changed while Omega was away and how he tried to go after Jon Moxley who is holding the AEW World Championship hostage only to keep getting distracted by the Don Callis Family. Omega responded back talking about the last time he was in the ring with Ospreay ended with Ospreay trying to break his neck and attack him with a screwdriver on behalf of Don Callis. Omega rejected Ospreay’s offer and mocked him for the only reason why people know about Ospreay was due to he was on the sidelines with diverticulitis. Omega stated that Ospreay is just a #2 while he is the real #1 guy in AEW.

This led to Callis’ music playing and him coming out trying to interrupt only to get quickly chased away by Omega. This led to Takeshita and Fletcher coming out and brawled with Omega and Ospreay that turned into an impromptu Anarchy in the Arena brawl with the Don Callis Family’s Lance Archer & Brian Ccage joining in. After some more wild brawling, Omega and Ospreay managed to send the Don Callis Family running and the two climbed up a stage tressel. Omega with a microphone in his hands talked about him taking up Ospreay’s offer to team up together and stated that they will be facing Takeshita and Fletcher at Dynamite Grand Slam: Australia.

Later in the show, this match was made official for the show.

Christopher Daniels Announces In-Ring Retirement

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show also featured Christopher Daniels announcing his official in-ring retirement.

Following Hangman Adam Page’s quick squash victory over a jobber, Page’s victory celebration was cut short by Daniels who came out to the stage wearing a neck brace. This led to Page leaving the ring to confront Daniels only for Daniels to stop him and talked about how all he wanted to do was be his friend and regretting having their Texas Death Match last week. Daniels stated that his doctors had advised him to never wrestle again and told Page that “you won” for his final match of his career.
