Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Clarksville, Tennessee was notable for Will Ospreay defeating House of Black member Buddy Matthews in a singles match. Following the match, Ospreay grabbed a microphone and gave a promo praising Matthews and encouraged him to leave House of Black since he saw singles success in Matthews career and even tag success if he wanted to team up together.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources within AEW stated that they are under the current belief that Malakai Black was finishing up his commitments with AEW, if he has not already.
Those spoken to reportedly did not specify if Black would appear on AEW television again. Sapp reported that additional details regarding Black’s current status in AEW is unknown but he is still listed on AEW’s official roster page as of Wednesday night.
Black’s current contract with AEW reportedly expires in 2025 but includes option years that could push it to 2027 if those extra years were picked up.
Black has been signed with AEW since July of 2021.
