As noted before, Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois featured AEW announcing that Jay White was pulled from this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament due to an injury. It was stated that White had suffered an injury during a recent unseen attack by the Death Riders.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that White’s injury is legitimate and not a storyline one.
Those spoken to stated that White had suffered the injury prior to Wednesday’s show and AEW officials had to create a storyline injury to explain why White would not be able to be included in the bracket for this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.
Sapp reported that White’s injury also resulted in AEW officials having to make notable adjustment to their creative plans for the show and tournament.
Sapp also reported that White’s injury will require surgery and he will be out of action for the foreseeable future.
No other details regarding the severity or nature of his injury is currently known.
