Meiko Satomura Wins in Her Retirement Match at Sendai Girls’ Satomura The Final Event, WWE Stars Send Video Messages

Tuesday’s Satomura Final Event for Sendai Girls at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan featured Japanese joshi legend Meiko Satmoura officially retiring from her wrestling career.

Satomura teamed up with Manami in a tag team match against Aja Kong & Chihiro Hashimoto. This finish to this match saw Satomura hitting a Scorpion Kick to Kong for the pinfall to give her team the victory and her retiring as a winner.

Following the match, Kong made a request to Satmoura for an impromptu five-minute time limit match which Satomura agreed. This match saw Satomurs & Kong teaming up together in a 5-on-2 Handicap match against Hashimoto, Mika Iwata, Takumi Iroha, Senka Akatsuki, & YUNA, which ended in a time limit draw.

This event also featured video messages from WWE talents Kairi Sane, IYO SKY, Asuka, and Shinsuke Nakamura, and NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi praising Satomura for her legendary wrestling career.

Following the show, Satomura reflected on Twitter about her retirement match and her wrestling career.

“Thank you to everyone who came to watch my retirement match today. I am truly happy to have stepped down from the ring surrounded by so many people I have met over the past 30 years. I will devote my life to making the new era of professional wrestling even more amazing.

Prior to her retirement match, Satmoura had been wrestling since April of 1995.
